To answer Slams question,

YES, the bite was THAT bad.

In fact, my SO saved the pics off the original thread posted to the other board to email to a couple of working dog friends to let them see.
We may even have those pics on the PC still. But, we won't post them out of respect to Chrissy.
If I remember correctly it was almost an inch or better. Then the canines started to grow into the roof of the mouth.
It could not possibly have been missed if someone actually took a second to look at a pup.

Ace, good work. Hopefully it all works out and Chrissy's puppy can be pain free soon.

My opinion is to get the dog the needed surgery and I will support that cause.  Let's wait and see if the breeder does the right thing and assists Chrissy with this situation.   There are three sides to every story and I'm sure since this is posted here the breeder will be compelled to assist with the surgery.  First things first, lets help little Kaiser and Chrissy.

We are in for $50.00
We will also hit up some other working dog friends.

It would be a great start to 2012 if Chrissy could rely on the goodwill and comraderie of fellow GSD owners to help her out.
It would be awesome if she was not out of pocket at all for the surgeries.

Ace/Chrissy, just post the vet info when you get it, and people can send in donations ASAP.

Where do I send donation for surgery? Ace, pm me please with info. Sorry, this went up after your's , workingdogz. I'm in for fifty as well.

by joanro on 29 December 2011 - 23:12

Ace, you're a good guy. A dog friend of mine is giving fifty also, so count me for one hundred.

Frank, where do you see anyone defending/protecting the breeder of the dog?

Who is the breeder? What did they say? I'm lost as to why there is already this "pro" and "anti" breeding thing...there is obviously more to this story that those of us who don't read every single forum would miss.

I still say we take care of the PUPPY first, try to help CHRISSY, and THEN we can hang the breeder if it turns out they did something untoward.

Who is accepting donations?

One thing I forgot to say is that wouldn't a consultation with an ortho specialist be a good first step to see what they recommend as the most suitable surgery for him whether it be FHO THR or TPLO?

Although I couldn't send a huge amount, also count me in for a donation too. I think Chrissy has been dealt a rotten hand, but Kaiser definitely ended up with the right person!

Are we allowed to put a request out on the board?  I am sure that we may be able to raise a good amount towards his surgery even with just a small amount from each member!

I will contribute $50, however you need to act fast, student's funds don't last long. I got a 50 dollar check from family, and can go much further in the puppie's case...

Once Chrissy decides where/when she will get the procedure done then I guess anyone can call the vet and pay via phone.  That would be the easiest way.  I sent Chrissy a PM with all the info she needs as I have spoken with the Dr.

Abby - I sent Kaiser's xrays to a vet who would perform the surgery and we talked on the phone and  he said the dog qualifies for FHO.  He was the most reasonable at $1300 for everything.

Ace
Some of us (well me anyway) are in the UK, and bank details to make a bank transfer would be easier I think. Even an email address so we could contact the vet for their bank details would do, but a dedicated bank account would probably be better?

Did the vet think FHO was the best option rather than the cheapest option?

I think what everyone is doing for Chrissy and Kaiser is absolutely wonderful, and I think we can raise the money needed, or at least a good proportion of it.

The thing is there is no massive urgency to get surgery done immediately, and it might be wise just to take a step back and make sure that the best choice (surgery wise) is being made, since the cost issue is changing things slightly if we can raise a significant part of the cost.  Kaiser isn't in a great deal of pain right now, so there is time to consider all the options. If TPLO would be the better option but is more expensive for example, it might be affordable if the breeder comes across and we raise enough money from the board. Just some thoughts going through my mind.
