Scam? - Page 1

A male is listed for sale in these classifieds that I wanted to look into. But the FB page and the website (https://www.dalmohof.ca/) are newly created (3 days ago- ad posted here 7 days ago) with no photos on either FB or website. . The kennel name associated with the FB page and website are not mentioned on the ad here and was only found by googling the contact number they request texts be sent to. When I go further back with the number, it’s listed to another equally empty website about selling “adult GSDs from Europe” a couple years ago but no photos and no activity. A reverse image search does not bring up any other photos and a search of the dog name only brings up one show result as a puppy. They are wanting $10,000 CDN for this male but there is zero info on it other than the PDB entry. Just a reminder to watch for scams...

What is with these exorbitant prices lately? Is it a case of covid pricing? That ad does seem sketchy.

Inflation.
Price gouging.

Profiteering.

Don't know if this particular ad is related to people in the US just got/are getting a little $ from the government to help with economic impact of covid, but the timing is suspect. Scammers and other greedy/mean people are doing all sorts of things to get as much of it as they can.

Example: Last week before the bill passed, I purchased an item on Amazon for $4 that usually retails $10-$16 locally. The day after the bill passed, the item was selling for $36 on Amazon. The item is still the same price locally as it was before the bill, but supplies of it are dwindling.

OP - it's good to hear what research and digging you did. If everyone put in half as much effort to look into the claims of sellers, especially ones not in-country, then we'd be hearing a lot less about people getting scammed. Can you post the link to the ad? Now I'm curious since it seems to be a Canadian website address.

I have searched the classifieds back to start of March and can't find anything like OP described.

Yes, Yucateko, that’s the one. Interesting once you dig into things. Not sure why anyone would hand over $10000 without doing a lot of research regardless but even a cursory search threw up huge flags. It’s sad!

Koots- it is Canadian, you’re correct! But hey, he replied to me and said the dog is still available. Hmmm. Wonder why? Lol.
