Hoping someone can help with locating a pedigree on a police dog from Slovakia. His first name was Avar and his sire’s name was Bob...something. I want to say the kennel name was something like Sendanesis. I could be confusing that part with another dog. I believe farther back there was the name Athos or Oranto. He would have been born in the early 90s. German Shepherd. Fingers crossed someone can run him down.

There is Bob z Kostolianskej cesty, he has Athos Oranto as a grandfather. I don't recognize that kennel name you gave. Have to do more research. Can you remember anything else?

Pyro and Hukka, I wish I knew for sure. Funny, I had a copy of his pedigree but it was ruined by water damage many years ago. I helped train him when he first went on the streets, then spent 6-7 years running as a backup officer for him and his handler. We worked for different agencies at the time, but worked the same shift. It is always best to work with another handler, so we ran calls together since three of my days at work I was the only K-9 on the road for my department. I was close to the dog and took care of him when the handler went on vacation. He bloated one year and his handler had spent a lot of money on a vacation overseas, so I convinced him to leave the dog with me. We became really close after that and he would no longer bite me if I was wearing equipment.

Avar was a big, dark sable with good head, little long, but a good mover. He had an incredible nose and tracked down over 400 criminals. I put handcuffs on probably more than 100 of those suspects. I remember being with him doing a building search of a school while he located the guy in a dishwasher. This was after my dog had already checked that area. He was also a preferred dog for the various narcotic task force units. He helped seize millions of dollars. I think one year he helped build a new 911 communication facility with his share of seizures. I know he bought many police cars and equipment for his department. Probably one of my favorite police dogs to have been around. Real nice dog.

I will try to remember more information. I called the guy who worked him, but like most K-9 handlers, he didn’t care about a pedigree and only knew him as K-9 Avar.
Bob z Kostolianskej cesty sounds familiar

There was a litter out of Bob and Východniarka born 3 July 1992 that would be the right age for "Avar", only thing is there is no "Avar" in that litter altho it is a "A" litter. The kennel name does not match either, it is "od Mazvor". Could they have renamed the dog? Still looking!

I am 99% sure it was Avar and the sire had the name Bob. There may have been a dog farther back named Blackie or Bleckie. A Czech man had flown in to work dogs with us and I remember him going over the pedigrees and mentioning something about the Oranto kennel and their confirmation.

Avar is buried next to some of the dogs I worked with. I will see if any pictures show his headstone in case it has his date of birth.

Thanks for your help!
