also interested which country it is that uses rottweilers ??

XPyro, reading back over your responses on this thred, I have a serious question for you:
What is it that leads you to believe that, even in 20 years time once you have become a breeder of your police-work suitable dogs, that the Police here (UK) would show interest in your stock ?

Duke : he said he's in London, so I assume he means he has seen Rotties at UK airports. I think there may be some; I don't know that it is policy to use that breed above others.

by duke1965 on 31 October 2019 - 04:10

possible, I supplied multiple dogs to UK vendors, from which one only takes german shepherds, the others also malinois,or mixes never other breeds so far, have been rejecting mixes with pit/staff features however

but as I understand he is original from another country

Yes i am from another country Somalia and they use rotts in the airport and LE, i don't want to breed for the uk police in my knowledge they have their own breeding program, i want to create a breeding program for my country because they don't have one and the dogs they use are not adequate enough.

You want to go back out to Somalia and breed there ? Or breed here and export to Somalia ? Have you considered climate difficulties with Malinois ? Do you know for a fact you could persuade your countrymen away from using Rotts, and accept switching to Malis or a MaliX ? In what ways are the current Rotties inadequate ?

good luck with your plan and can only applaud your effort

For the same reason the uk doesn't use them for LE their bite pressure is too high im not trying to break the suspects limbs. In the beginning i will import later on i will create a breeding program there. It's easy to persuade them since i would be in charge of the police there hopefully and i don't know how well the x mass or was or gsd can adapt but they should because i know of a person that imports x mals to South Africa for anti poaching

The Rottweiler has been ruined and is essentially a show dog now. The ones that can still work are fugly and generally have major health problems.

Pyro, I don’t think you have to worry about the Rotts applying too much bite pressure on a suspect. I have watched many, many dogs bite suspects. I never came across a dog who could bite harder on a suspect than a male German Shepherd. It takes a certain type of dog to be able to sustain pressure on a bite. Under the stress of biting a person, dogs suffer from grip slip, relocation, thrashing, etc. None of these are full pressure bites. The power of the grip and the ability of a dog to be able to gain immediate (within 5-10 seconds) compliance comes from the back of the dog’s jaws. These dogs have marked deformity to their head as their muscles swell from exertion. The sagittal ridge is well defined as it grows to compensate for the increase forces as the jaw muscles grow larger and stronger. It forms a crest that is easily felt and seen, especially when the head is wet as the hair along the ridge stands up (crested). Having a dog that bites the suspect as hard as he can, every time he can is very rare and not so easy to find. I worked some hard biting Rotts, but this was only to the suit or sleeve. They could never take that same confidence and level of dominance to the streets. As soon as the stress sets in, they would head back to a safe place like prey or defense and lose their ability to apply full bite pressure. Most would begin to thrash in an attempt to rip and tear. If you can watch the American cop shows on TV, you will see this first hand.
