I don't have that issue of switching to the editor. I do it all the time. But if you use a paragraph. When you switch to editor it is going to take those paragraphs out, but the well written post is still there. Oli was looking for ways to speed up load times so by not opening the editor on the server side, he switched it to open in your computer it saves  on load times and server resources.

Oli has never claimed to be a professional website developer. He is self taught. What he is though is a master database engineer, desinger, manager. He did several years back hire a semi-professional to redesign the site. It didn't last as people didn't like it, if I remember correctly lots of complaints about it.

Honestly, there is a lot of info here and if the design is not up to pro standards so be it. The problem is the obtrusive ads, it slows down my load times dramatically when I turn ad blocker off. Sometimes the page will never completely load. While for me the ads don't cover content all that often it just slows PDB to the point of losing my interest. I think if Oli went with less ads, no video or sound. And then asked members to shut of ads blockers to view content he would be in a better position. The problem still lies in paying for the site as those new ads would probably not pay as much as the current ad system. I am not privy to what this site costs a month to keep online but it probably isn't cheap. Or if it was mine I would charge a nominal member fee a year. I would probably even keep a free system but heavy on ads with less content and a requirement to turn of ad blocks. Meaning yes you may be be able to view pedigrees but you couldn't create or edit them. Meaning you couldn't use other site feature add ons. Want to do a mating check? Turn off ad block or pay a member fee. Lots of bonuses to a system I am describing - less classified scams, less pedigree admin work, less spammers, less jerks, less problems in forums and the list goes on. Cons - potentially less active members, less pedigrees being entered, less member involvement - IDK, but changes are coming in some form or another.

I do not want to load another program onto my devices just because this problem occurs only on this site. When it gets bad, especially with the 'tag' box that appears on the bottom of the screen or the 'free prize' thingy on my phone then I just leave the site.

I used to have a lot of issues with the “prize thingy” popping up! It literally chased me off the site for becoming so frustrated with it. Crossing fingers not as of lately though 😊
The ads are atrocious! Before I paid much attention I though these were pictures posted by the members because they land right in the message box of the poster. I find the ads very distracting and honestly it’s a little too much commotion for me personally! 🙃🤪Too much eye candy ! Overload ! I have a pinch of ADD and it’s too much distraction!
I would rather pay a membership fee and have a cleaner site. Just my two cents 😊

YES!!

Yes, I would pay $10.00/year to have an ad-free site [not referring to the classifieds]. I would pay $20.00 per year, for that matter.

One good thing may come from making members pay is they might just be more considerate of each other. Who would want to pay and then get their posts deleted or themselves banned even for a short time.

I would be happy to pay if it keeps the site open.

The problem isn't with the dog advertisements. The problem is with the personally tracked advertisements that follow a person to this site. Some of these advertisements have found a way to hijack the pedigreedatabase.com url. What needs to happen is the site needs to identify which of these ads are hijackers and deny them a place here.

If the members pay to post and their posts are deleted because of an admin whim and personal interpretation, and not specifically mentioned and outlined in the TOS, the member should have the right to end their membership and receive a full refund.

Third-party ad servers that either don't vet ad submissions properly for the JavaScript components that could cause redirects, or get duped by innocent-looking ads that hide their sketchy code.  https://www.wired.com/story/pop-up-mobile-ads-surge-as-sites-scramble-to-stop-them/

I don’t care about posters being considerate. I enjoy giving my opinion and allowing others the same.
Some do communicate more “considerately” then others, but I don’t need, want, nor prefer moderation micro managing how others or myself choose to communicate. I’d pay 💰 $50 a year for that! Heck, I’d pay $100 !

🐝 bee, I agree it’s not the dog advertisement, but all the other stuff.

NOTHING IS DELETED/EDITED HERE ON A WHIM, NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE THINKS. Whither you pay $10 or $100 dollars there will still be the TOS to abide by. I am all for members giving an opinion without being nasty but c'mon that is definitely not always the case. If members abide by the TOS there will be no need for any moderation.

Ruger, not everyone can communicate with others as well mannered as you...if only they could...would save us Admin a lot of work, lol, lol.

Now this thread is changing route ( again, lol, lol )so maybe we should get back to the WEBSITE ISSUES of which I have nothing like you guys are having.

Let's keep moderators/moderation out of this one or contact one of us privately please as per our terms of service, thanks guys.

mrdarcy, let her keep digging, I refuse to be drawn into her black hole of smugness and pettiness.

Cute gif, GSDAdmin!

Well, just for the heck of it, I paused AdBlock.

OMG...just NO!

I have never been a member of a website where the ads were so obtrusive and annoying! It's not just the flashing, it's also the way they follow you around as you scroll, and make it difficult to see the content you are looking for!

It's MUCH MUCH worse than what was there before I installed AdBlock.

Ads at the top and bottom of the page, I can live with. Ads in the middle of a string of topics or posts, okay, as long as they aren't too in-my-face.

But this?

HELL, NO!

I never would have joined this site if it had been like this back in 2007!
