Hello Everyone, I am planning to go to Zurich in May. Can anyone guide if there are any good breeders around Zurich where I can visit? The only good kennel I know in Switzerland is Steinhauberberg. But I dont know how far it is from Zurich. Please give me email or websites or tel.no. of the kennels if you know. Thank you in advance

Hi Sumo. I live near to Bern, and do have a small kennel myself, and would be pleased to show you a few of our best kennels in Switzerland. The kennel vom Steinhauerberg is about 20 minutes away from Zürich airport, and in the same village is another good kennel, vom Birkenhof. If you wish, I would show you my GSD club, and show you the differences in the Körungs in our land with the character test, as those in Germany. It would be nice to hear from you, and maybe to meet fellow GSD lovers from other countries. Kind regards Isabelle

Isabelle - I was wondering if you might be able to help me also...(I read this and got excited)... We have family that we visit in Crans-Montana just above Sierre and we have visited every year that I have been alive...this upcoming winter I was planning on doing a tour and visiting some of the local BBS and GSD breeders since I plan on breeding both (seperatley). I have read some on the Swiss breeding programs and I am WILDLY impressed (and very much in awe)....like everything else I have seen the Swiss do they breed thoroughly! The only problem is that I have let my french fall out of use (a bad habit because I let the ski teachers speak english to me when I should have asked to speak french to practice) and I have no command of german or romanche...though my father speaks fluent Italian. I was wondering if you could point me in the directions of some of the breeders...I have found some...but I imagine there are more...I would just like to start some relationships...get some input, information, suggestions...and just see how the kennels are run so I can pattern mine to be the best I can make it. I am sad to say my experiences are mostly limited to Sion, Sierre and Crans-Montana...though I am quite versed in the train system (having taken it from milano and geneva my whole life :) ) So I would loooove to do a little bit of traveling (as long as I get my skiing in....lol...I actually met my first BBS skiing down that mountain :) ) Thank you so much :) ~Cate

I don't know about breeders but I know the area around Zurich is the most beautiful in the world - I have travelled the world, and Zurich is the place that took my breath away - I envy you your trip to that wonderful part of the world. Take lots of pictures and never forget your trip - it will be one to remember. molly

Hi Cate. I'm sorry I haven't posted sooner, but I have two pregnant ladies, that have special wishes at the moment, so I hardly have time to do the things that i'm supposed to do! I would also be pleased to show you around a few Swiss kennels while you are over on holiday. Unfortunately our shows and körungs are over and done with during the winter months, but as know, traing never does! Most of the breeders in Switzerland are situated in the German-speaking areas. In the part that I live in, near Bern, we speak Swiss-German, and I doubt, with my French knowledge, that we'd do too well! You are more than welcome to send me a line if you know when you'll be over. Until then, Isabelle Hi Bruni! Thanx for the compliment!
