Some fuked up drug addict mother ordered her sons to stand in a lake as she started to drown them. The dog in the struggle started to maul one boy then turned on the mother allowing one boy to escape.

Massive frantic search underway looking for the boy last seen floating down the river.

Mother is charged with 2 attempted murders and will prolly get upgraded to a higher charge. The mother has admitted to trying to kill her sons.

What a mess, wonder what the dog was thinking.

Being a pack animal, I would assume it was just following the Alpha' s lead.

Not her/their dog, apparently.

From what I have read in multiple articles, the mother was drowning the older boy who escaped. As he was running from his mother, the Pit Bull (who did not belong to the family) attacked and mauled the boy.

Aren't Pit Bulls banned in Australia?

by vk4gsd on 04 March 2017 - 19:03

There is no such breed as a pit bull in America or Australia so it is impossible to ban them.....its legally messy.

Does Australia not have some Police guidance &/or legislation along UK lines ? Our KC does not recognise the APBT as a breed either (though it does record AmStaffs); but part of bringing in the Dangerous Dogs Act here was to evolve a set of 'points to look for' to determine whether a dog is "of the type" of a PBT. Much is nonsense, of course, as not all dogs 'arrested' as Pits do meet all those criteria; and many dogs that attack people are not Pit Bulls in any case; but at least it gives them something to play with, and make it look like they know what they are doing.

Mind you, banning them included not being able to keep them except under certain conditions & it became illegal to breed them...heh heh heh - long while THAT was effective for  :-0

There's all sorts of laws, none of them work.

Interesting. If there is no breed as a Pit Bull why did the AKC continued to cross register them as AmStaffs until the 70s? Why did the UKC close their books on cross registering Pits and AmStaffs a few years back only to recently start cross registering again? I don't know why anybody would think that American Pit Bull Terriers aren't a breed in America or any other country when they are recognized in multiple breed registries for over one hundred years complete with their own breed standard and breed club. The AKC does not need to recognize a breed for a breed to exist.

Regardless, and I got this from an old post of yours vk4gsd, when Australia banned Pit Bulls, all people did was register and license their Pits as AmStaffs. Was that comment true? I am not sure why you are now saying the breed does not exist.

I do believe Diane Jessup, a Pit Bull breeder in the US is a member here. Perhaps she could chime in whether Pit Bulls exist or not.  I am sure there are many others Pit Bull breeders on this forum, let alone owners.  People do tend to know what kind of dog they own.
