Quick question for everyone - does PDB do any vetting of classifieds that appear on the site? I'm thinking of statements like "guaranteed DM free" (which isn't possible with current OFA testing) or "best pedigree in world" (which is subjective).

I am not responsible for looking at the classifieds, but do look at and try to verify about 80-90% of the new pedigrees entered each day. So if a classified references a pedigree, I have probably looked at the pedigree. It would be impossible to verify each and every item, but here are some of the things that I usually check.
OFA/DM, VA ratings, Kör or not. I look for Fake reg numbers, or sire-dam that seem to be wrong.
I have sometimes check classifieds for 100% DDR, and for claims about being strong on inbreeding in a certain dog or XXXX V4 BSZS puppies. Many things probably get past me, but mainly I check an item if it sends up a red flag in my brain. I recognize many, many, many kennel names and will check the OFA, SV, AKC, Dutch, Estonian, Italian, Russian, Finnish, Slovak, online databases in addition to several other good private online databases for discrepancies
You have to realize that there are 10s of thousands of you entering data and there are perhaps 20 of us (just made up that number, not sure how many we really have), but we really do try.
Members could make it a much better database if they would provide more information, Many think that just a name is enough, but what is bare minimum is a date of birth, Breed/Stud book and reg number so that we can verify information.

Thanks. I'm not condemning, just asking.

As I look at Classifieds I think many times...That someone really ought to teach these people what information is needed or how to write an ad...

I just saw an ad the other day and it referenced a PDB Web-Page for the dog's pedigree...I followed it and on the pedigree page was NO INFORMATION...I mean NOTHING on the Sire's or Dam's side at all...

Maybe there should be a Form of what information should be on a ad...

If the dog is said to be a Registered dog...then a link to a Pedigree should be required...
I've even seen ads where the dog's Full...Registered Name isn't given...they only give a "Call Name" or "First Name" so that no one can research that dog to obtain information...

I think there is Basic Information that should be required and that some people don't want to state a Price but would rather have the inquirer make contact...

I hear ya! I want info! Dam's, Sire's, Hip ratings, elbows, DM clear FCI/SV/OFA. How tall is the dog, what's the dogs current weight? For starters.

No we do not vet the ads they are free and we do not have the time to vet ads. We do try and remove any one proven to have scammed using our free ads. We just do not have the manpower to deal with ads. My best advice is do your homework well before buying any dog from any site or classifieds, not just our ads. I am open to suggestions as long as it involves the manpower to get it done.

When the sign at the market says ''fresh fish'' and the salesman says '' caught yesterday'' I still do the ''sniff test''. Go see pups and parents.

An advertisement for living creatures is meant to put a word out to seriously interested parties who make the effort to make human contact and communicate and get to know more personally . Most breeders I have contacted are happy to provide the above and will also ask that you reciprocate with feedback on intentions and or needs. Many have websites and telephone numbers as well. Although I know for myself that I am not able to update my website all the time due to technological and time restraints. But again people who have serious interest and are not just wanting to monitor dont seem to have issue. But then suggestions are always a good thing,
