If you are dumb and support trump you may have been a victim of scammers.

Teens post angry misinformation that trump fans want to hear and pay for.

Sux to be angry and dumb at the same time;

Sounds like uneducated white trash.

Quote;
The children, who identified some of their sites but refused to give their real names, said that they were simply searching for the angriest most gullible audience. They say they started by writing for Bernie Sanders supporters; but that Berners were less forgiving when the stories turned out to be fake. So that’s when they turned to Donald Trump fans.

It turns out that Trump supporters will believe anything as long as you have some snappy graphics.

It has been shown that republicans are more likely to believe fake news stories than democrats. Almost half of Americans get their news from Facebook and Facebook actually fired their human editors who were responsible for regulating the false stories (because they also censored some real stories). It now relies on an algorithm which is clearly failing to stop the spread of fake news; it even helps it to spread. Facebook does not care as it is all about money. It's the same with Breitbart. Some people think it's an honest site for news, others think it's the devil. The truth is it is just clickbait for dollars. It's basically a troll job. Haters click on it, those in need of feeding their confirmation bias click on it.

People need to understand that the internet is not this "neutral" ground of freedom that is untouched by profiteers. There is this whole anti-mainstream media movement but the internet is mainstream media. Facebook is mainstream. Social media is mainstream media. Breitbart is mainstream, for profit, media. When the guy running it is now working for the president elect it says a lot of things and not being mainstream isn't one of them. Why people would believe that simply being on the internet, instead of being in print or on TV, somehow adds veracity to a story is a sign that they really have no grasp of reality. The way it really works is that you are much more likely to get lies from the internet than from the NY Times, CNN or even Fox. Does anyone think that some blogger posting in his underwear from his mom's basement is afraid of getting sued for some lie he posted? The worse cases are those who rely on memes for their news. "It comes with a picture so it must be true."

"...YouTube, Facebook and Instagram news users are more likely to get their news online mostly by chance, when they are online doing other things. "

Which is NOT the same as "...Almost half of Americans get their news from Facebook..." Of course, that quote by Noitsyou was a disingenuous use of a statistic that was stated as a fact.

The dumbest things were done by the Democrats in this past election who proved that claim, when they lost the election to Donald Trump.

by Noitsyou on 17 November 2016 - 18:11

@beetree, you are a really sad person. If you have learned anything about me it should be that any time I post something as a fact I have a source for it. You can read any post I have ever made and you may disagree with opinions I have made in them but you will never find a lie when it comes to something being submitted as fact. To quote Morrissey:

'Cause there's always someone, somewhere
With a big nose, who knows
And who trips you up and laughs
When you fall
Who'll trip you up and laugh
When you fall

Oh, my source: http://www.niemanlab.org/2016/05/pew-report-44-percent-of-u-s-adults-get-news-on-facebook/

"More than 40 percent of American adults get news on Facebook, according to a report published Thursday by the Pew Research Center and the Knight Foundation. (Disclosure: Knight is a supporter of the Lab.)

Two-thirds of Facebook users access news on the social platform, and with 67 percent of U.S. adults active on Facebook, that translates to 44 percent of the overall U.S. population which accesses news on the social platform, the study said."

Now show us all how you are the better person.

by beetree on 17 November 2016 - 18:11

That people stumble upon news on Facebook is NOT the same as seeking out news sources.

Duh. If you want to prove me better, this will do. If you checked my source link, it would show the same PEW source as yours.

Why does bee change the topic and start an argument every time facts related to trump get mentioned??

by beetree on 17 November 2016 - 19:11

I want to explore the thought that comes from examing the other side. Did you start your post just to get agreement? It is a risk we all take.

Why are you trolling me?

by vk4gsd on 17 November 2016 - 19:11

Don't flatter yourself.
