Prager

Who needs ticket to Canada. I am buying.

LOL@NIY

If you lived next door to me and built up an addition that blocks my view, you would bug me. If you call the dog warden on my dog for stupid reasons, you would bug me. If you cut down all your big trees just because you hate to rake leaves, you would bug me. If you put a giant flagpole up directly in front of my picture window, you would bug me.

If you might think I am an imbecile, I would say— join the club, but that won't bug me. I know I am not, so why would I care what you think?

I bet you went back and read what I wrote, but won't admit it. I sort of just skim the real long one's of yours, if I am doing two things at once, that's my secret.

I don't think you can let me have the last (word) post, either. I am happy to give you the last word, because you need it more than I do. I am generous that way. But....

Please, now, I implore you to never mind me, and instead, start a thread about how Harris proves the great philosophers of atheism will be vindicated by showing we don't need morals to come from God, if that is negated, then that is the basis for irrational belief. Ask Deanna what she thinks about that. It will be fun. Way more fun than posting back to me!

@beetree, did Sam Harris steal your lunch money or something? You have a strange fixation. I thought I was the one who should marry him yet you bring him up more than I. My interest in him had nothing to do with atheism but rather neuroscience. I find the atheism vs religious belief argument dull and pointless way back when I first read Thomas Aquinas. Apparently you don't.

by beetree on 10 November 2016 - 00:11

Righty-O. Lunch money, haha! No, I just wanted to see what would happen if Deanna had a go around with you. And maybe throw you off my scent.

Missing the mark, however. If I am going to fixate on a neuroscientist it wouldn't be Harris. It would be James Fallon. You are just wrong about me, again.

by Noitsyou on 10 November 2016 - 00:11

You're fixating on him as an atheist.

by Noitsyou on 10 November 2016 - 00:11

@Prager, you couldn't afford a movie ticket.

by beetree on 10 November 2016 - 00:11

Aren't you one? Doesn't that become central to all your perspectives? Isn't it the preferred battering ram for obliterating other lesser perceived sensibilities? If not, my apologies, that would make you somewhat of an odd egg.

I can't get you to engage with Deanna without a faith debate and championing atheism is usually a sure bet for that around here.

by Noitsyou on 10 November 2016 - 01:11

Championing atheism makes no sense. It isn't a cause. It isn't a belief. I don't look at anything from an atheist or religious perspective. If god exists then whatever I see is somehow connected to god regardless of me trying to see or not see him there. I just care about the truth and if god exists then he exists in that truth if he doesn't then it is still the truth.

Do I believe in god? God, if he exists, will exist regardless of my belief or lack thereof so why should I worry about it? I don't believe in him and I don't not believe in him. I don't mean that in an agnostic way either where you're not sure if he exists or not. I don't think about it one way or another. Only bad people need to worry about it. The people who believe in god need to worry about god. If god exists then every time I help someone I express my belief in him without having to express my belief or non belief in him. If he doesn't exist it doesn't diminish what I did.
