Never think that your dog is safe in a securely fenced yard. Put signs on your house and fences with the address clearly indicated. If you have a fenced yard make double sure the gate or gates are secured .. locked if possible .. clipped with safety clips so that the dog can not possibly get the gate open. Locked is better because it removes the usual excuse the cops and trespassers use .. the gate was open. Put up security cams where they can be seen so that cops and trespassers know they are being recorded. Make sure the fences are secure. Wireless fences are the most useless device ever invented for keeping your dog safe from trespassers, loose dogs, and police who decide they want to search without a warrant. Many dogs are killed by police because they enter a fenced yard without permission. Put up signs prohibiting weapons on your property as people making deliveries or servicing equipment may carry weapons onto your property and then use them to kill your dog. The legal system is so warped toward the indiscriminant use of deadly force against animals that even if you prove the killing was intentional and with malice there will be few penalties for police or others killing your dogs. The most that you can hope for is trespassing, illegal discharge of a firearm, and the replacement cost of your dog.

God bless them ( my dogs ) and keep my dogs safe and the cops off of my property along with anyone else with a gun and a tiny brain who shoots first regardless. More and more often the police resort to violence first and never consider an alternative that does not leave people or animals dead or injured. In the link below an obviously poorly handled police dog attacked another cop during a burglary call and the dog was killed by a fellow officer. Who in his right mind sends a dog without knowing where and who is the target?? The dog went after a cop and they did not know how many, what age ( children ), or if there was even a crime in progress. The handler sent the dog on a search and destroy mission and he did the first person he saw ( another cop ). Everyone should study how police dogs are used and misused which will enlighten you as to why you don't want cops on your property or send your dogs to work for the police. Half the time it is Keystone Cops time when they arrive. The first one below is a classic .. cops at a Donut shop .. what could go wrong???

Finally the good news .. there is at least one cop in Meridian Idaho that is not an idiot or a dick .. he handles the dogs the way it should be done

Indeed .. a burglar alarm is more likely to get your dog killed by cops than to prevent a burglary. I don't have one ( a burglar alarm ) for that exact reason .. thanks for pointing that out Dragonfry. I have several GSD so if a burglar is crazy or brave enough to run that gauntlet then a burglar alarm is not going to help. Even your neighbors burglar alarm is a danger to your dog as cops often go to the wrong address and then shoot people or dogs. Clear signs indicating the address on all sides of your property and house are a must. Locking your doors and gates is also a must. In the USA the cops often claim ( illegally ) that they can enter private property if the doors are not locked. What that means is they can ( supposedly ) enter your property and come into your house unannounced if the doors are not locked if they think a crime is in progress ( and who is to stop them from thinking anything they want after you or your dog are dead ). Lock your doors to keep the cops out. A link below to a man who was bitten by a police K9 set loose in a restaurant business at 2 AM in the morning ( folks have to work late cleaning up sometimes ). The door was not locked so they sent the dog in unannounced and claimed it was "justified" and legal ... too bad you got bitten buddy. Some other idiot cop dog bites. It's interesting that a cop can kill your dog on your property when there without reason or permission yet a K9 bites a kid and it is " no serious injury BS " . No police officer in the USA has ever been killed by a dog but they shoot and kill 15 dogs (reported) each and every day. It also turns out that police k9's are involved in a lot of collateral damage bites and plain poor quality dog and K9 handler incidents. My heroes!!
