There was a article in the USA police K9 magazin about problems with gunshot KNPV dogs I have heard they bite there own handlers..... Personal I have never  seen it here and I have seen many KNPV dogs in Holland

This is the exercise silence KNPV gunshot with 9 mm  my club

This is a fresh KNPV K9  just certified for his KNPV PH-1 ready for duty

You know it really bothers me that dogs are put thru Gun Fire ... this is very hard on Humans much less dogs...whose hearing is much more sensitive...I understand this is training...but the Humans are wearing Head Gear...
I wonder how many dogs have hearing problems from this type of training...

what you want to do black malinois, call them and tell them they are wrong LOL

there are actually two articles about it, one is in K9 cop magazine jan 2013, I will quote

for example, you and your canine are approaching a call, you have good control over your dog, so he is healing next to you off line, Your cover officer is arriving and heading your way,
As the two of you approach, the cover officer observes a threath and engages that threath with gunfire, you immediately take cover and draw your weapon,
Meanwhile your dog, who iss agressive on gunfire, perceives the cover officer as a threath, AND DOES JUST WHAT HE WAS TRAINED TO DO, BITE THE THREATH

will see if I can find the other issue were this matter is discussed, but it will be hard to make you believe what is happening in the real world

Well Duke I don,t say it will not happen You also not work in the real world

I have spoken some police oficers who work sure in the real world

The last video is sure one oficer who works in the REAL world and the dog
looks also fine to me this is a fresh KNPV dog

If you can post that article here it will be fine.

Also it is very easy to re- train gunfire issue if there is.....................

sure  a stable dog with good nerves.

Personal I have more trust in Holland police K9 trainers/handlers  than that trainers /handlers in the US from my observation, but that  is an other story

black, I do work with police, swat, customs etc all the time, my friends and people I train with are police, customs, and prison K9 handlers, but what do I know,
policemagazines write about it, but what do they know,

it is a known problem, so why , if you train policedogs, teach them something you need to unteach again

so share your personal experiences with USA K9 handlers here please and explain why you dont trust them

Duke I know who you are , you are not a K9 police officer with real life experience
you are only some  dog sales man with a piece of the market in the US thats your living.
I understand you have to be friendly for business to keep your business friends over there.

Please post that article that is all  what I ask

Im no policeman, but I work with them every week and not only from USA, and I dont need to be friendly to keep my business, I need to send them quality dogs to keep my business

no mis understanding about this. ( personal I have not issues about this and nobody in my area  Police K9 oficers/instructors  who I have spoken also )

by jenniferbirch1989 on 21 July 2016 - 10:07

I am divided on that issue...

Dogs are so sensitive to loud noises like gunshot.

But the police still needs to train K9, and there are ways to make training more effective - http://www.gundogsupply.com/sws-gun-shy.html
