Can someone please help me she has shed her coat and this result still shedding some on back end...thanks.

Will it grow back? Is it just from shedding?

That kind of hair loss on the tail would make me want to rule out thyroid problems. Talk to your vet about testing her thyroid. Ask about a full thyroid panel, not just a TSH screen.

It might be a good idea to get the dog checked out by your vet for thyroid malfunction, mites, or anything else necessary; but I would also point out that your photo seems to show that the guard hairs are still present. As the dog had just finished shedding her coat, could it be that you have just been a little too zealous with the brush ? It does look as though you could have brushed out all the dog's undercoat from the tail. In which case, fear not, it will grow back, eventually.

I wondered about that. I just got her. Saw a pic of her two months ago and tail was beautiful. It's not blotchy just looks different than other gsds I have had. I will check with Vet. She's young only little over year so I am hoping not thyroid issue.

Does she chase or bite her tail?
Whatever it is, it´s not normal.

Never that I have seen. Not all as a matter of fact.

OK, so "don't panic" - if she is only one year old, it may well be that what you saw a couple of months back, when her tail was bushy, was that she was still carrying a degree of 'puppy coat' that had never been combed out or shed - which would bulk the tail hair up more than you could expect it to look in 'normal' (for her) adult coat. Now admittedly her tail looks pretty depleted for your average dog, but it may just naturally be that she does not have a particularly plush and hairy tail anyway. Not what you'd want to see if you were going to show her, for instance, ... but normal FOR HER
(not every dog is endowed with everything about it 'perfect'). As I said, it looks as though the guard hairs, the outer coat, are present. Check out the amount of undercoat still present (if any); get your vet to take a look and do any necessary tests (good idea to ask for the full thyroid panel, as Zenit suggests), and if all is medically clear, just give it a little time - you might catch her playing with it and chewing it, or it may well come good by itself. But if it does not, its probably more an aesthetic problem for you than it is a problem for her. Is her pedigree on PDB yet ? Another thing that occurs to me is there may be some clue in how she is bred; and yet another point: is she a "rescue" ? I have seen people take on dogs that have had bad starts and find that previous owners have done some VERY strange things to coats (eg shaving), for reasons only known to themselves, and the new owners have to pick up the pieces.

This was taken late mid to late April...looks extremely bushy here.
