PLEASE HELP Import pedigree from AKC - Page 1

Is there anyway to import the pedigree for you dog directly from AKC or do you have to enter each dog from the pedigree one at a time?  Also I have found his grandparents on here is there a way to link to them directly? Or do I have to enter it all myself?  Sorry to sound so stupid but I am new here

 

If the dog/s are already listed here, then all you need to do is link the pedigrees to your dog and the system will do the rest. If you need help you can PM me.

I don't understand the question. Are you asking how to enter your dog's pedigree information here on pedigree database?

There is no way to import the pedigree. You must enter each dogs name one at a time. If the dog is already in the database, PDB will link to it and you may not have to enter any more in that line.
Start with entering your dogs information. Date of birth, Breed Book and registration number, color titles...etc. Enter
Then move down and enter his sire and dam. For the sire and dam do not enter complete names at first . If sires name is Jon von Dog... just enter Jon Dog to allow PDB to search for him by clicking on "Search Father". If PDB does not find dog, then enter full name Jon von Dog then "Search Father", then click on "Create and set as parent: Jon von Dog"
Once you have completed this, you can click on the fathers name and fill in his information . Date of birth, Breed Book and registration number, color titles...etc. Enter. then click on back arrow at the top and enter Mother's name..... repeat the above.
I usually then hit back arrow and refresh the screen (curved arrow at the top) to see if everything worked.

Then do the same thing with the sire and the dam to find or create the grandparents.  Start by clicking on the sires name. move down. and enter the sires parents name like above. Just keep repeating that for each dog in the pedigree.  You either find it already there and link to it, or you create it...step by step.... just like building a pyramid.

If you don't find them on PDB you will have a lot of dogs to fill in, but often they are already on the database and you don't have to make many entries.
Usually people enter a minimum of their dog plus 2 generations , but you can enter as many as you want. If you need more help contact either GSD Admin or me.
