CORRECTED.

Thank you AKC.

Everyone be mindful of your dog's supposed offspring.. recommend anyone breeding have an account set up with AKC and monitor things that "might" be going on in the registration department....  this isn't the first mistake I have discovered..

Congratulations Den Wolf. And well done AKC for correcting the error, and quickly !

Always cynical re the activities of national Kennel Clubs, I was mortified to recall that in the other thred cited, I actually (in all innocence) encouraged 'Momosgarage' to finish telling the OP of that thred ('Nick') how to do this method of registering a dog where the breeder had failed to "do the necessary paperwork".

We used to have a system of secondary KC Registration in the UK [for dogs who were judged typical of the breed, but whose parentage could not be substantiated] but this was subsequently abandoned.  None of which implies I am in any way supportive of the kind of 'mistake' perpetuated here in the case of "Domo".

The dog has a PAL number from AKC, which is fine... that's what PAL and ILP are for, so people can train/compete with dogs otherwise ineligible for AKC registration.

What was crazy and wrong about this situation is that AKC made a mistake.. probably because of some oddball documentation...(can only speculate on that based on previous postings I read)... and this animal would up with FULL AKC breeding papers.. which seemed to me to be by design..

I told this individual years ago that there would be NO PAPERS on any of those dogs, because of what had happened in that bad situation..  I told him to just get the PAL number and be happy.. that it didn't MATTER the pedigree.. it was all in the past at that point..

It was just SO bizarre and wierd that someone would go thru THAT much trouble to do what they did.. for an (supposedly) altered RESCUE dog.. unless there was some other creepy reason to make up all the stuff to get the papers issued.

So, as I said, be MINDFUL of your dogs' records.. do your research from time to time, and follow up on scammy things that take place..  an account with AKC and SV is a good start.. you can track all kinds of information and data with the online databases.

I agree; it is/was "weird", and who knows why he went to the trouble - unless there's some nefarious purpose relating to a wider breeding scam ?
The 'expert' on the purposes of this sort of thing would be Malcolm Griffiths, but I don't know whether he will read the thred or post a theory !

This Domo was a different dog to the 'Johnson' bitch asked about in the other thred. Care to speculate, anyone ?

Here in the UK we have an Activity (working) Register that works a little like the PAL system, in that dogs can compete and do all sorts of fun things; can even be bred to produce more dogs good at Agility etc. But (I believe like PAL) no good for those producing certified purebred, pedigreed dogs in any breed, and wanting to charge commensurately for KC Registered puppies.
