This is a first!

This past weekend, I did some health test and pedigree research on dogs I own, and came across some REALLY bizarre pedigree data…

A German shepherd dog that was seized by the Los Angeles County dog pound in 2011 has been granted FULL AKC breeding papers, and a PEDIGREE with fake date of birth, sire, and breeder name…  no kidding..  If I had posted this last Friday, all of you would think it an April fool’s joke..  sadly, it’s NOT.

It IS a concern for ANY breeder/importer/owner of ANY dog with a DNA profile from, apparently, SV or AKC… (pretty sure this HAS to be some sort of major error by both SV and AKC)  dog people  need to be made aware…

Here is the information I discovered, while doing some related research…

I came across an oddball entry on the SV database.. (If you get an account with them, you can research dog data)  It listed THIS out-of-context dog:

Then I went to the AKC website to CONFIRM that there is indeed such a dog now registered with them (yes, there is) and…look at THIS:

An image

One step more, revealed THIS pedigree, date of birth, and breeder:

Now, the dog in the data screenshots above, a male GSD, is one of the animals removed by Los Angeles  County animal control from  Jan Bartmess’ property in that unfortunate 2011 incident…  I am VERY familiar with ALL of those dogs.  Only a few of the AKC registered animals were able to be claimed from the dog impound  by their owners…   the rest had no proof of paperwork and were deemed rescues by the county, and were ultimately supposed to be ADOPTED out and ALTERED by different agencies in California. Most went to Westside GSD rescue, including the male dog in the pedigree above.

There was NO litter ever registered in 2010 (or after) by the import pair of dogs on the above pedigree (Arek and Hesie). There was NO litter born in MAY 2010 from either…  and the biggest load of make-believe is that HEIDEMARIE MAKUS (a German breeder who SOLD Arek and Hesie  in 2005) is listed as the BREEDER of this rescue dog with a birthdate of 2010!!!

Now, somebody please explain to me how FULL AKC PAPERS are granted to a seized rescue dog adopted out by a shelter??

It appears that the current owner of the dog (who posts on here all the time, btw) has used some DNA scam to try and get breeding papers on this dog..  which makes absolutely NO SENSE… I mean WHY???  This same dog was previously ALREADY granted a PAL number by AKC :

An image

Yet it clearly now has ALSO received an AKC number…. that can be used to generate AKC PAPERS on litters…

The current owners of AREK and HESIE were NEVER notified by either AKC or SV before this was done…

The implication is that ANY idiot with a wherewithal and the cash can just “GET” some nice breeding papers??? From dogs they didn’t buy from people who never bred or registered a litter from them????

And then claim the dog is now an IMPORT??

It’s scammy, crooked, and downright creepy…  I have been telling this guy (current owner of this rescue dog) to just get an ILP or PAL number on this dog for YEARS…since he wanted to do things with it.. and it looks like he DID take my advice…but…it also appears that he didn’t stop there.

SOMEONE submitted paperwork to AKC and SV with fake birthdates, and has NO idea who the real sire of the dog is or could be, and has apparently gotten around the normal channels of registration by getting SV to say to the AKC that the BREEDER of the parent dogs also bred the rescue dog???

Wow…

Of course, AKC has been contacted, and letters have been written, but I really thought other breeder/owners should be aware of things like this…

Anyone reading who has ever imported MIGHT want to do some research on their own dog’s supposed offspring..   It seems you NEVER know what make-believe stuff you will discover!!!

Oh, Mylanta....

This is the kind of tainted crap that makes me not want anything to do with "DDR" dogs...Jan, Judy...their followers...the whole crew just make me ill. Geez, Denise...you're a real thorn in someone's side, aren't you, with your penchant for telling the truth? :)

Creepily enough, Jenni, its NONE of the people you mentioned that did this...

I actually have dogs related to this line, they are nice..

It just really ticks me off to see such scammy things being done..  when I and others work SO HARD doing everything RIGHT...

But seriously, this is way bigger than one dog..  the implication is that by just SENDING some DNA to SV, you can get AKC papers on ANY dog you "think" you know the parentage of???

I am hoping somebody in Germany also looks into this...  I cannot believe they allowed something like this to happen.

And then there is the question of how a RESCUE dog is able to get AKC papers...  not talking PAL or ILP, but actual AKC full papers with incorrect pedigree...

I didn't mean I thought they DID it (this current nonsense)..just recalling (with shudders, lol) the debacle in 2011 or whenever.

It's kind of confusing to try to follow how this could happen, really.

The implication is the supposition that the advent of providing DNA proof would make such shenanigans obsolete. Instead the abuse of (faked attributions) of DNA are making the impossible, seem possible.

Very good sleuthing, DenWolf!

Someone has some 'splaining to do!

If the DNA presented is unchallenged as correct, exceptions can and maybe could be made. If it is not? That submission might need its own challenge?

Does this mean I can finally get papers for my dog? Where do I pay, anyone suggest a grand uber pedigree that I can market.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe Janice is out of jail by now? She did mention her own meticulousness in semen collection. I think the jailhouse abode was in CA?

I know, CA is a big state, but others here can narrow it down for you.

As far as evil geniuses go, she has some real promise. Start there, see where it takes you.

Last I knew of Arek, he had been abandoned @ a shelter in Ca, and was rescued @ 12 years of age to live his life out in a retirement home by someone who had admired him. That was back in 2011. Sad that such a quality dog has been used and abused by folks who purport themselves to be aficionados of the breed. At least he lived out his years in peace, not in a shelter somewhere.

The DNA testing on purebred dogs isn't done to make easy access to breeding papers/pedigrees for people that have no busines breeding..it is done to keep the breeders of the dogs honest..

Regardless of whatever the DNA of the rescue dog (Domo is what they named it) shows, neither SV or AKC should be issuing any paperwork on the dog without following the correct chain of command...  there are a million reasons a pet dog should NOT be bred..  in this wierd case, that opportunity was taken away from the person who bred it..  and without their knowledge...

NONE of the young dogs taken by the AC in 2011 were AKC registered by the owner.. for a variety of very good reasons..   yet THIS unique animal gets what appears to be FULL AKC papers, and I absolutely know the information on that pedigree is totally false...

I am not sure how to explain this better... it's a mistake, but it happened..   to not point it out would be wrong.

The bigger question for me is WHY go to all that trouble for a dog that is supposed to be NEUTERED?  There is NO reason to do all of the sneaky antics...  PAL/ILP number was granted... dog can compete in performance events...   there is NO reason to allow made-up papers to be distributed on the dog...

Like I said, letters have been written... I thought I'd share this with other people..because there might be a LOT more "mistakes" out there producing litters.

I'd like to set the record straight about Arek..

He absolutely wasn't abandoned at the dog impound..  if he had been, Westside rescue group would have taken HIM as well.

Kim Hayden admired him alright, and when a group of us were organizing funds and transport to get the animals out of the impound, Kim agreed to help with some of the costs (they were extensive). Arek was transported to her on the east coast, and to date, she has never helped with a penny towards those costs.

I certainly hope she gave Arek a final and loving home..  but the things she wrote about how he came to be with her were untrue.
