Congratulation on your

PRELIMS.
But I had X-rays done at 4 months showing good and in two months the hips and elbows both were Displastc. Two vets did the X-rays.

So just take caution We were shocked as no over exercise was done, proper diet , no high jumping , was kenneled to keep from over exertion when limping started. So end of caution!!

Never had this happen to us but it can

Thanks for the tip! Troy turned 7 months last weekend, and he was 6 months at the time of the X-rays. :)

xbitetab, perhaps it was the positioning that caused the 2nd set to be caused deemed dysplastic?

by xbitetab on 18 August 2015 - 20:08

No Dear: wish it were just the position..
He started limping and his elbow plate is incomplete and he limps and is severly cow hocked, ears don't stand, and were glued and taped by breeder for two months, with excuses he was in a kennel since he came home... curled tail and he is in pain when he just runs the fence one time
Never in our lives had one shepherd with ears not stand and keeping all gsd in appropriate wire crates at night and for traveling and for working proceedures which we did start with him...soon saw him lay down everytime he ran . Both vets said "sad, train wreck of a gsd..."    HE is the 3rd displastic pup in the litter...Our vet found out last week a sable male returned and another male, still in possession of a veteran who started training and then exray.is displastic and elbow problem.

Our male  was xrayed and tested by Dr Keith Taylor
Rockwall , TEX after my ofa vet examined him and determined he was so poorly structured , and also had very weak pasterns at 4 months old which was noted..

Waiting for refund from breeder till he will be put down.
Three vets have verified this from the time he was 6 months old.

HE has been xray 4 times...once at 4 months

Once after examined by vet in Tyler, then sent to my ofa vet , to be xrayed all over..

After one month, the vet in my town said take him to Keith Taylor
who is a specialist doing tons of Police dogs, and Schutz sport dogs, and others, is known for his knowledge with out a doubt.

Dr Taylor knew the minute he watched him walk and trot...HE took 5 new exrays

THE male is over sized

This is one of the best positioned  hip xrays we've ever seen on this forum. Your vet did a really great job.

Thank you :)
Some members on the German Shepherd forum said his hips weren't properly postponed. Thoughts?

chloster, Properly positioned you mean? I think they are perfect myself.

by Blitzen on 19 August 2015 - 02:08

Whoever said that was wrong, cholster. They could not be any better.
