Am I missing something or is it no longer possible to add a new dog to the pDb?

In tools on the right is a register dog link.

It is easy if both Parents are already in the database. How can you get your dog's pedigree loaded if the sire and dam are not already on the database?

Stephbpd, then you need to add the sire and dam first, and then add your dog. If the sire and dam's parents are AREN'T in the database, you have to add THEM first, then your dog's parents, and then you can add your dog.

When I added my male to this database, both his sire and dam were on here, which is how I got him listed. But if the sire and dam are not on here...(my female's parents are not listed) how would I do that? Can I use their AKC registration numbers? If her parents are not listed, than her grandparents probably are not either. How does it begin? Does that make sense?

You may have to go back as far as the greatgrand parents and find them as the starting point you may have to go back further but I would doubt it if you are doing a German Shepherd. 

You can also just add the dog and then in the pedigree page,  add the missing parents.  The system will correctly link to a current dog if it exists (select it from dropdown)
