Hi All,

Any new info on E-collars? It is time to replace my 3 year+ old tri-tronics pro 500. I am debating between a new 550 or trying something in the Dogrtra line.

I like the tri-tronics line. (Previously I owned a pro 100) but they have not been problem free. On my pro 100 the collar slot things broke-but it was under warranty. Now 1 has broken on my pro 500, not under warranty and can not buy a new receiver since tri-tronic has been bought by garmin and the 500 has been updated to the 550. Also the charging cradle has been inconsistent for the last 6 months or so.

& now ti-tronics has only a 1 yr. warranty-I think it used to be 2-and I used it.

Mike, I own and use the Dogtra 1900 NCP and I have never had a problem with it. Its not expensive, its very reliable, has never broken down on me amd I bought this one two years a go.

I would like to try the Chameleon that Bart Bellon is selling, I believe its made by martin systems, but, I like to wait a year or two for any bugs to get sorted out and the price to drop a little bit before exploring that option.

I love my 550.  It is very consistent and much lighter than my old tritronics. The light is great when I let her out at night.

I like the Tri-tronics but couldn't justify the difference in price between that and the Dogtra models and ended up with the 2300 NCP.  Like Hired Dog, I have had no issues with mine in a year and a half.

I have an old 2 dog 2200 or 2300 system from Dogtra. I don't use them much at all, but they are still working flawlessly despite their age.

I have a dogtra 1200NCP. Did not use it for about 2 years. Started using it again about 4 months ago. Has been working like a charm.

My husband has a Tri-Tronics Upland Special XL-2 that he uses on his English Setters for field trials and hunting quail. When he trains my German Shepherds he uses it on them occasionally. It works great as he can use it on two dogs at once (if he needs to). He gave me his old Tri-Tronics Classic 70s model which still works great. After I used the Classic 70s model a couple of times on my German Shepherds, it wasn't necessary to use it again. I can just put it on "my favorite pet Sarge" (throwback to earlier post - LOL), and he does what I want him to.
