congrats! What ever your motivations are, continue to  aim high. The breed will prosper when many work at making a difference. A working breed must be trained.

Eve hasn't changed a bit because she has an IPO title and she is no better or worse for breeding because of any title.  The title is for the humans .. many of whom are too insecure to breed dogs without titles and IPO sheeple blah.. blah .. blah to boost their self worth.  Titles are ego trips for humans not betterment of the individual dog or the breed.  The titles go to the trainer and the trainer can't have puppies.  A piece of paper will never make a dog stronger, faster, braver or more breed worthy.  Training may make an individual dog easier to live with or more useful for a sport ( IPO, KNPV, Mondio ) or for real work but it never changes the dog for better or worse as far as breeding better dogs.  Over time titles and breeding for titles produces a dog better for getting titles or a sport but a KNPV dog is just as good as an IPO dog .. just a slightly different tool set.  KNPV dogs tend to bite and chew and push in on a bite suit while IPO dogs tend to bite and hold on without chewing because that is what breeders breeding for those sports has chosen for over time .. it's a matter of points and competition for a sport with a set of rules not the real character of the dog.  I know Eve's litter and I once had the pleasure of living with her sire Fargo and I have had and still have Fargo offspring.  Eve is a fine dog and she was a fine dog before she got an IPO title.  The trainer is the title earner not the dog so don't get too carried away with thinking an IPO title is like a college degree for the dog .. the dog benefits from the training and the experiences but the nature, breed worthiness and talents of the dog are not changed by IPO training.  Neither Fargo, Perla nor Rega were IPO titled and they are all three  fine examples of the GSD that have produced outstanding offspring for any sport or work the owner prepares them for.

Wow, Charles...I know you aren't a fan of IPO (nor am I, particularly...not my personal favorite thing to do with my dog) but still...no need to rain on her parade. She is pleased and proud of herself and her dog and what they accomplished against naysayers. Don't begrudge her that, please.

If I'm not mistaken, Fargo has a BH and also is a certified police dog...so he's had much of the same training ;)

I like titles. I like dogs with real titles. I like breeders who title their dogs in open trials for the public to see. Just from what I can see of this dog in this thread, I like this dog. Both structure and that the owner proved her character and trainability and put her out there for the public to judge in open trial.

I like that the owner wasn't satisfied with saying "I have a great dog, just look back in the pedigree". She took the dog and proved her on her own merit.

Congratulations on your and Eve's accomplishments. And congratulations on coming up with a very nice dog.

Denise,

Remember, most people here are internet trainers, majority have not even done BH on their dogs, many think that they are the "shit" in the dog world.. and many are self proclaimed experts on everything dog related.

I am certain training your dog was an eye opener, a nice dose of reality as what you and your girl are capable of separate and as a team. You learned her short comings and you know where she excels. Keep that in mind and move on. Trainers train, the rest talk shit.

Congrats and good luck, you achieved more than many on this board.

Thanks Keith Grossman!!  This was definitely a learning experience for me as a handler - and I thought I knew what to do on the trial field - LOL!!!!!  I have decided that trialing a dog is like the movie "Any Given Sunday!"  We will see what happens next, but the plan is an AD, Show Rating and a Breed Survey - the rest is top secret for a little while!!Wink Smile

Absolutely disagree that KNPV dogs tend to be chewy, not sure which PH1 dogs you've seen.
