I have been fishing around for a high quality, working line, female, gsd pup. I am continually drawn to Jipo Me pups. I do not know anything about Jinopo kennels or Jiri. And I really don't know anything about importing a puppy. If anyone has any experience with doing business with Jiri and importing one of his puppies please share your opinion and experiences. I have had mixed reviews so far but I really love his dogs and I would love to have one for myself. Thank you all!

Without being rude, did you own a working dog breed before, and what are your intentions and goals with this dog?
I guess you are inhabitant of the USA - there are several good working line breeders within the country.
My suggestion: Try to find one or two working clubs in your area, visit them, and take a look at their dogs.

Why import?

Maybe it would be wise to search this board or the net for comments on this breeder? You might meet some posters who can give you some good advice privately.

Jinopo kennels put on their pants just like everyone else ( be they male or female ).  If I could only have one puppy I would find a good US or Canadian based breeder with the bloodlines that I liked and get a puppy from them.  Take the $1000 or so spent on importing and feed a raw diet .. give the puppy plenty of off leash exercise, and pour every minute possible into the pups training up to 8 months.  Excellent food and an excellent environment is what makes a good puppy great.  I know some who have bought from Jinopo and the results have been mixed.  Your chances are just as good with a quality N. American breeder with similar bloodlines.  Don't limit yourself to IPO bloodlines .. some good breeders are using GSD from Ring Sport bloodlines in their breeding programs and these dogs can do anything an IPO dog can do and more.  Wendlin Farms in Canada comes to mind as a breeder that I would go to for a puppy.

jinopo have a partner in the US, same basic theme and bloodlines, it would save you import costs and you could visit the parents of the litter. here is a forum associaatted with the kennel, you could post questions there;

If you're set on those lines, there are several breeders within USA & Canada whose breeding program is based on them.      No need to import if you can find what you're looking for here.

I purchased a highly titled dog of Jiri of Jinopo Kennel breeding. Jiri helped with the transaction and shipping. This dog has exceeded my expectations, and my exceptations are high. Based on that experience I would not hesitate to deal with Jiri again. Please keep in mind all breeders do not have all top end dogs. And these are living changing beings that react to their environment mentally and physically. What is good for one person may be a disappointment to another.

There are several good kennels with dogs based on Jinopo in the USA and Canada and Wendelin Farm in Canada is a very good one and is deserving of highest recomendations for owners and their dogs.  The quality that is difficult to replace is the first hand experience with the dogs in the back of the pedigree. The Hans of Alpine and the Jiri of Jinopo and the Dari of Van den Heuvel are a few that I think of that have had the advantage of working with what I call some of the legends of the breed on a daily basis. I am not intentionally leaving anyone out these were just what that breeding brought to mind. I am sure there are several others of high quality.

The other problem that arises is not knowing what we are asking for.  Drive is a relative term and what is High to one is medium to others.

We are in the information and travel age. There is no substitution for first hand experience. Select the kennel you feel best suits your needs and go and visit the breeder and the dogs. You can fly round trip to Europe for about $1000 or anywhere in the USA for about $500. This may be money well spent for something that will require the time and expense you will invest into your next companion.

Good luck and take your time.

Hi, DENAE,

I met Jiri a few years back , extremely knowledgeable and  a very fair person. However,  I believe that you can find equal  quality

here in The USA/ Canada and probably save a few $ . The real key is what you intend to do with the pup? and some bloodlines have advantages over others

Dari of Vandenhuevel K-9 is very knowledgeable and I believe has one of the best line-up here in the USA, she has Drago

Equidius @ stud right now and several unbelievable dogs . John & Dari's are actually working on a special breeding this month. I would suggest you call her even if you

don't decide to buy from her , her experience and knowledge will be a great help to you as she is honest to the "T".  I recently purchased a Pup from Her the Pup

is Named "Cheetah" she is 8 months now and will be training for her Bh and Ipo shortly (can't say enough about this Pup!).  They are on Holiday until 1/5/2015

most people use the Equidius bloodlines in Czech Republic and Slovakia including Jinopo.

Christina in Canada has allot of the Jinopo Blood and is another great breeder and extremely knowledgeable, Both ladies I consider 2 of

the best Breeders in North America  when it comes to WL GSD's. All in all it really depends on what you intend to do with the Dog?? I Have imported Dogs

from Germany, Czech Republic,Canada and Slovakia in the past 7 years and I would be willing to talk with you in greater detail, just PM me when you

have a chance.  Happy Holidays

I would not hesitate to buy from jinopo. They are a large commercial operation. I would however ask a lot of questions when they breed to outside bitches and sell from their site, as the quality of the outside bitches can be iffy and is not under their control. If you like jinopo lines go to the source, as opposed to small breeders with jinopo lines. If you need advice the alpinek9.com board is a good source. Small breeders in the US and Canada can have good breedings, but cannot compete with the source. Fwiw, jinopo is not liked on this board by some, see older posts, some of which made legitimate complaints.
