I've submitted my paper work and payment for the Bescheinigung on my dog. They told me I could send them my credit card info via email.
Am I stupid, or is this crazy?

it's ok, I did it with no trouble. I'm sure you will hear this from many others. You can also telephone in your credit card if you feel better about that

I renew my SV membership every year with my credit card.

That's quite normal for SV. They claim their online pay system is very secure.

My credit card is billed several times a year by the SV and I have never had any problem.

by email is a bit different then a secure server for billing. We sent everything snail mail and included our credit card number. We had no problems. I would op for that way instead of by email
