Prelims to be sent to OFA. 13 month old female, 69 lbs. I am not overly pleased with what I see but I am by no means an expert on x rays. I have raised this girl from birth... Please let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks in Advance.

Not terrible, by any means. Are you sending them to OFA? I'd guess Fair or Good. I'm not sure that her legs are extended fully. Her femurs look rather short. Is this a GSD?

Yes she's a GSD. Just a compact one :). The vet who went over them with me was concerned about her right hip. Said it might be mild to fair...

I am thinking fair if you send in now;  why not wait until she is 2??  Walks in sand and swimming and maturity should tighten these somewhat.  Best of luck

PS:  I am thinking it looks like her knees are turned in more than they should be  Not sure...:

I'm thinking fair. There does seem to be adequate socket coverage on the right. It appears her right side is slightly higher, closer to the Xray machine, thus making the socket look more open to us and making the femoral head look like it's not sunk in as deeply/tightly as we'd like to see. Look carefully. Anyone agree?

Nan, I don't necessarily need to send them to OFA but I do need to have a pretty good idea if I will be going ahead with titles and planning for breeding next year. I am looking for good or better for a brood bitch.

Jenni, I see what you're saying and I had the same thought. It was recommended to me to have them redone in a month due to a false pregnancy which she imaginarily whelped mid July.
If there's a good chance they will go good with better positioning I would r xray for sure.

Left hip is good, right hip is fair.....so total is "fair"...I would re-do them again at 24 months and would go from there...

If everything else is perfectly to your liking then I would say she is worth keeping until the 2 year x-ray with controlled exercise and a meat diet, weight down, walks on soft surface,  sand, grass, soft dirt and swim if you can.  good luck  Nan

Normal is normal. Who cares what the official "normal" rating is? That depends on the moods of the panel that day and one dissenter can change it.

She's only a year old. Redo them when she's old enough for certification and you'll know exactly what you have. Either they're worse and won't pass, or they're the same or better and she's absolutely fine for breeding so long as you still are satisfied with all her other qualities at that time.

13 months - borderline per OFA, fast normal SV. At 24 months???
