Thanks for your complete reply as to what your dogs do and the capability of your lines...I , like all working dog people, like to feel better that , since I did not know you, all is being done in the socializing area which is so important...It is obvious this blood line can handle the training as it is a natural instinct with genetic makeup to do that kind of imprinting both to social skills and to introduce the bitework in the right manner..i LIKE WHAT you have shown us...Excellent work...so many of these high working dogs have wonderful personalities and temperaments and this is the kind of gsd we love to breed and work with and promote for families , It is a joy to see you do a good job and love the kids involved..

Keep us up to date and we love videos and pics..

I am getting a Zidane daughter pup in about 6 weeks but just to be my companion as all my gsd are very old and Zibossie just whelped a litter of one female and 5 males so I am gonna be proud mama of a male , who will keep me young for a few more years. I sold Mahon Zibossie several years back for his expert training was what she needed

nice dogs, nice breeding, nice drives, nice nerves, nice grips, nice training, nice internet response.

you will have to lose the name chewie tho, my mutt pup is the one and original chewie so F off with that.

lastly you seem to have yr head screwed on right and do good work but PLEASE lose the goddam whip with fer krissakes.

i swear the whip has become a neurological disorder for decoys that have some tactile deficiency disorder (i just made that up).

do decoys fixated on the whip suck their thumb at night?, jerk-off compulisvely? - it is the neurosis of the working dog world.

what do you think the whip means in training? demonstrates how hard yr dog is cos it attacks a guy with a whip???

Vk4gsd, you are a complete ass.  Keep those stupid ass comments to yourself.  You sound like you have a compulsive masterbation problem.

He is desensitizing the dog to the whip and stick hits. He is also showing that her grip does not shift while he creates minor pressure with the whip.
Its just training..not backyard "protectin" work..;).

You should not, as a matter of training, desensitize a dog to the stick or the whip.  And the puppies grip does shift in the video to a less than full grip

by Trini to the Bone on 04 August 2014 - 03:08

He is not desensitizing the pup to the whip, he is demonstrating the pup's reaction to stress when the toy is present and when it's not there.

I do not see anywhere in the video where the grip changes. What I do see is the tug being held as hard as possible, yes the tug is a bit big, but you can still see when he lifts her off the ground and 'drives' her the grip does not change at all.

Trini,

You need to look again.  Start at the 40 sec mark.  Only the last molar is exposed, by the minute mark the bottom has worked loose to the point that the grip is only half full.  Worse yet, it is not fixed.

by Haz on 05 August 2014 - 01:08

He isnt holding a whip in the first vid at the 40 sec mark...which is what Im talking about.   I didnt see any shifting on the tug in that vid, dog is lifted off the ground several times.

Your right I misspoke, I should have said stick not whip.  Plenty of people choose to desensitize/expose their dogs to stick hits.  Around here the whip is used to stimulate / fire up the dog.

Like anything else there is always debate, just like how to train jumps, BH, tracking etc.

Haz, the comment was that the grip doesn't change. Yes it does, after the forty second mark the grip starts to shift and get less full. The dog in the air doesn't mean anything about the grip being full. The grip doors shift and gets less full.  If you can't see that, then you need to cultivate your grip vision. There is no doubt about the grip getting worse. It's there on video for all to see.
