Hi Gang..

I am deciding between a pup between these two hypo matings.. I am needing a street caliber dog.. fearless, courageous, blah blah.. what we all are looking for!! The perfect dog of course!! haha! I am lucky enough to have great access to experienced decoy's and helper work.. I have a decent trainer (blushing) . and have access to top notch trainers as well. Looking for a male preferebly .. but not a deal breaker!

Breeder will be helping me long distance on testing and watching for me! Getting excited.. I was old school DDR for so long and now looking  on the back lines, recognizing at least some of the dogs is comforting.. but then again.. the mixing of East, Czech and of course West.. not sure if I am getting the correct type of cross! Any constructive knowledge on these particular lines is welcome!!

Thanks in advance my friends.. sherry  I cant seem to make a link.. ugh. copy and paste I guess. I dont know how to work this site very well!! LOL

I personally like the second breeding better ONLY because I'm biased of Asko.

A pedigree is just a tool...To be used in identifying a dog's background...It's a good tool...But if you want to know more about a litter or particular puppy...Look at the parents...They are a better indication of what a puppy will be like...

Have you seen the parents of these litters? Are they what you like and looking for? If so then you should put that into the equation of which litter to choose from...

I read that you're looking for a "street dog"...what does that mean...Are you looking for a Police K-9 or something for Personal Protection...? If you have people (trainers/breeders...etc.) that can help you look at the parents/puppies...I would take advantage of them and ask for their help...If they're the ones that will be helping with the training...It's a good thing for them to have input into what kind of dog you should be looking at and for...

Its hard to evaluate what either mating is going to produce unless you've evaluated all three dogs in person. Just looking at the pedigrees I like the second breeding.

Some of the things I look for in a pedigree are how many of the females have titles and what level. Have any of them competed at higher than club level. Who (what kennels) used them and who were they bred to. How many of their offspring  have titles and what level. What are the health ratings of their off spring. Are there any below normal/fast normal hip or elbow ratings in the first four generations. For this pedigree on the mother line side,  I like Buster, Asko and Arek all have produced some really nice dogs. Wish I could help you further but I'm not familiar with the czech lines, GSDPACK could help you with those.

Good luck and be sure to post pictures of your new puppy :)

Street Caliber?

I like to cut to the chase, forget the cross, the old school this or that. Ask the breeder how many street caliber dogs (im guessing a civil dog is what your looking for) where produced in the last one or two litters from the same breeding. Figure what pick your deposit is and if the numbers are right your chances of getting your perfect dog just went up exponentially.

Almost with out fail when you look at the choices made previously by people for very strong, civil dogs with great work ethic from old east lines the choice made was a unholy prayer and long shots. Almost none want to breed this, not many want or need that type of dog, so the question above cuts the crap and although theres no guarantee of course, your 100 milles ahead of most in chances of landing what your looking for.

Try this method and your next post will be most likely what the hell did i get myself into Thumbs Up

Good luck,

You could just flip a coin. Probably not helpful to you but that is how it looks to me. Or go for a youngster, 13 months old and you will have a better idea what you're getting.

If you are insisting on one on the breedings, well they both look reasonable to me, but I have no crystal ball to give you the right pick. No one has!

Good luck.

I tend to prefer the 2nd breeding (personal preference...if I had a gun to my head, etc.), however I don't see a ton of difference, really, in terms of the odds of what you'll likely end up with. I am not sure "street" dogs are what you're going to get in either...more like strong sport. Hence, you need to define what temperamental traits you want in particular. I would probably look elsewhere for a super nasty, civil "street" caliber dog, myself, but I may be misinterpreting what you want. You talk about clubs and training so that says you ARE interested in sport type dogs, so then I think you'll likely be fine with either breeding.

Thanks guys.. I didn't mean to come across "squishy" .. I am not just not as familiar with the sires lines. The breeder just got this dog last year, and what progeny I found from him seems to be what I need. One customer is getting a pup from one of the breedings and I was intrigued enough to look myself.. I like both bitches and have seen them both. I am a K9 officer and the dog I have now is all civil and defense .. took some of the fun out of the game a little, but he does his job!
The "sigh" was a jab at me, starting over with a new puppy again!! To have some prey again will be exciting! And I have shown these breeding and videos of dogs to the trainers I train with as well. Just throwing a bigger net of thoughts out there! Thanks again for the comments. I thought maybe someone knew personally either good or "hell no stay away from" etc. That was more of my goal in asking!
