Oh O  now we have a dilemma?   May not run for what reason?  Banning of a strip used on the horses nose.\

Aweful funny someone raised the issue after he won two races ,,WHO ?

Why?>

If no rule against that means a Silent issue?

i CAN ONLY guess why this issue was raised..  BIG MONEY MEN and other breeders found a tiny minute thing to maybe stop him../?

All the horses can wear nasal strips, now. I am afraid to hope too much, for a Triple Crown winner!

Are these like the "Breathe Right" Nassal Strips?
The horses snore?

by beetree on 22 May 2014 - 23:05

Yes, they are like, "Breathe Right" Nasal Strips?" Even in their application. If the horses snore, this is not why they use them, only to aid in creating an always open air passage. Using something like that is more on the level of say, blinders, as it is an "aide" and not an additive, ie. steroid shots or other banned substances.

Nasal strips aid in keeping airway passages open and reduce the risk of bleeding.

New York banned them (where Maryland and Kentucky allow them) and in fact I'll Have Another raced with nasal strips and was facing the same question in New York before he was retired due to injury.

No one 'raised' the issue YR the issue was already there until New York officially removed to restriction on nasal strips.

But this is indicitivie of one of the biggest problems in American Racing today.  Rules are governed by each individual state and track so what is allowed in one state may not be allowed in another and where one state may crack down on an illegal drug a trainer merely has to go to another state/track where they can run on the substance.  There is no uniform law or regulations.

In this case, however, New York quickly stepped in to rectify the situation and allow the horse to run with the strips.

Thanks for the explanation.. I am not learned in Horse racing even though I do watch and am right in front of the tv TO SEE  the beauty these horses bring to the sport.

And I admire the jockeys  ..they are very important, also
