So, we all know the saying, "you can lead a horse to water...",
Some actually do take the drink!
I have a woman that bought a dog a couple of years ago from me who I told IF she puts a title on her dog, when she is ready, I will give her a pup for free( that's my buyer incentive to work your dog).
Today she sent me OFA good on the hips, last fall she got the BH, and in the upcoming months, she's 'going for the gold'!
What makes it real nice is her new pup will be joining her, along with her young son in the sport of schutzhund.
Nice right. I love it when the dogs fall into the right hands.

Great idea, a win-win situation for both of you !
For the owner a "free" puppy, for you a great home for the next pup and the best marketing, too ( titled dogs out of your own breeding ).
Congrats!

Nice incentive!!
Do you do this with all of your buyers or just a select few(how do you pick those)? This sounds like a great way to get the owners out there working & competing with their dogs, give you the added benefit of having dogs from your kennel titled, & give the dog an outlet for energy.

This really is a great incentive.  I am impressed!  I have a WGSL, and he is the reason I got involved with Schutzhund...he needed an outlet and I needed to learn more about dog training and behavior.  I would have jumped on such an offer from my dog's breeder, because now I'm addicted to Schutzhund and working dogs. Must be nice, too, to know that a future pup will be in good hands.

I started a few years ago to try to really promote more activity between owners and their pups. I have turned away more than one oerson that thinks they can live in an upstairs apartment, no yard of their own, living in town.
If a crate is your answer for 'down time',no pup here.I want my dogs to be a part of the family, not something that gets taken out and put away as time allows.
Most people that come looking for German Shepherd pups don't have a clue about the difference Iin bloodlines, don't know nothing about schutzhund or any dog sport (I'm really shocked how little the average person knows about dogs in general)(Really...)
So I deceided to try to promote doing something with your dog. I tell them, a bored German Shepherd does NOT make for a very good pet!
And that really is the bottom line. I want my dogs to stay in one home, and one home only. If that becomes impossible,  bring them back!
I mostly will not sell a dog to someone that is " thinking about" breeding. I put to much time and effort into my dogs, and do take great pride Iin them.I have German Shepherds because I TRULY love the breed.
AND yes, anyone that gets a pup from me can get a free pup, IF AND WHEN they want one, IF they take the time and make the effort to title it.
I really am happy for this girl(woman) that got this dog, and the fact that now her young son wants to go to training with her with a dog of his own to train.
And, she will get the best pup for the task as soon as she's ready for one.
