The date is the 19th October 2013. I am entering my bitch in her very first show today , class 1 , 6-9 months. The competition only starts at 9am , however i'm up at 6am. I am like a excited parent going to watch his son's/daughters very 1st netball, cricket , basketball match. The addrenalin is pumping, i cant wait. We hit the road at 8am and arrive at our destination at 8.30am. Now what you guys must know is that with me working shifts i had very minimal training and not belonging to a club also made this NOVICE even more nervous. There were about 16 dogs in our class. The judge was Rudiger Mai (SV ).

Once the show started the nervouse subsided and Kenya was on her way trotting nicely. Now what surprised alot of us was that the judge never did any individuals and normally at our shows this is what happens. All he did was let the dogs walk/gait around the ring on 3 occasions and had them stacked twice? Is this normal?

Anyway we managed a VP8. I was very happy with this and hopefully next month i will improve on this. Attach are some pics

Waleed,

Congratulations! Judges have different ring management. Believe me, Mr. Mai had the class judged as it walked into the ring. This is his last year judging and you were fortunate enough to have him judge your dog. I would encourage you to ask him any questions you can while he is there. He is one of the most knowledgeable about the breed you will ever meet.

@ dog 1, thanks. He seems very friendly and one of our local Judges even said that he is someone you can approach anytime. Tomorrow will be class 7 till 10 and I will see if he has time to answer some of my questions

Congratulations;  what a beautiful girl.  Love the show lines, good luck with her.  Enjoy her puppyhood and her youth,  it goes so fast.  Nan

He has always been very helpful, fair and personable and willing to share and answer questions.. We hope more judges like him will remain and come in the future. Wow congratulations, You do a great job of stacking.
She is lovely well done.
Believe me those nerves never go away, I am like that every time one of my dogs enter the ring Regular Smile

Such a shame that Herr Rudiger Mai is retiring, he will be greatly missed ... He has judged here in Australia, always willing to answer your questions.
