yellowrose of Texas

by yellowrose of Texas on 09 January 2007 - 20:01

Do not use them....same here in Texas...they cn make up more than a lawyer can ......Its a multi-maketing plan ur buying into...not a real vet that u can walk into his back office area and will have a real relationship with u and ur german shepherd...Lots of vets dont like shepherds, afraid of them and check out how they feel . ask hundreds of stupid questions and if u get good answers and he will be interviewed by u,thats ur vet.....

Thanks Everyone!

I agree with everyone's comments, it's amost like an HMO where you see who is available.. for some things that's ok.... but I want a relationship with my vet... I want someone who listens to me and knows I know what I'm talking about.. although I do use a couple different ones.. I still can call up and get to see the person I want to see or get to talk to someone if that's what I need....

If you want a plan, look into VPI or something. Where you pay and then get reimbursed instead of a plan offered by a "clinic".

I have VPI insurance. I have made one claim which was several months ago and have not recieved my reimbursement but I knew that prior to getting it. They are a little slow. I'd rather have slow than bad insurance.

Are the Banfield hospitals similar to the VCA hospitals? I have 3 veterinarian friends who had successful hospitals & sold to VCA because they each thought VCA would handle the paper work & free them up to practice more medicine. All three eventually left those practices because they didn't like what VCA wanted them to do. The interesting thing is none of these 3 practiced together, but all came to the same conclusion - they didn't want to practice McMedicine the McVCA way.

Single01: If you cancel, they may be entitled to short rate your return premium rather than prorata (return 100% of unused premium to date of cancellation), depends on the rules of your state - I suggest you read the section of your policy entitled "cancellations". If you are paying monthly, & do not pay your premium, your policy will be cancelled prorata (no penalty).
