Question about a bitch on her 1st cycle - Page 1

My bitch is having her 1st heat cycle, is this painful? Is there anything I can do for her? Should I get her diapers to prevent an unwanted mating with my cocker spaniel? Thanks

Diapers won't work, you need to seperate them for about 25 to 30 days from the first bleed to be absolutely certain she is out of standing heat. That male will tear those diapers off in 2.3 seconds when she comes into standing heat.

EchoMeadows is right... you need to seperate them for at least a month until her heat goes away. Diapers will not work.. the bitch will rip it off of her, if shes not use to it. The male could still penetrate his penis in the female, even if shes wearing the diapers. I suggest getting 2 large Metal crates... put the 2 crates in 2 seperate rooms where they both cant see each other. Do this until the female is no longer leaking and that her "private" is no longer swollen. If you want to decrease the scent that your female is producing during her heat, I recommend an all natural supplement Chlorophyll. To get fast results, get the liquid form. DO NOT get the mint flavor.. most dogs do not like mint. Whatever you do NEVER trust both of your dogs together while giving your bitch the supplement Chlorophyll.
