Hired Dog

by Hired Dog on 10 June 2013 - 07:06

These posts are indeed fun to read. I just saw Destiny's replied insinuation to my post and it honestly does make me wonder...What alternative Universe do some people live in?
A dog, make it a police dog, works because of the intimidation factor and the fact that a bite will cause pain that is not easy to describe, but, that will not stop a man who is willing and determined, period, end of.
Ever seen a guy get bitten and pick up the dog by the throat, hold it in the air while the K9 handler has the subject under gun point ordering him to put the dog down?

How about the "gentleman" who is so whacked out on Meth or crack that feels nothing when bitten but loves to fight? Ever meet one of them at 3AM with your dog? Trust me when I tell you that its your gun that will stop this guy from disemboweling the dog and you.
Again, a dog is a great deterrent to have that will engage the bad guy and maybe even make him comply with your orders or give you enough time to run away or draw your gun, but, its a VERY rare dog, VERY rare that will win the fight alone.
Slam said it very correctly here once, "give me a kong and a pocket knife and I will take out 90% of your PPDs"...Have a great day!

Hired Dog, excellent post. I would like say there are many breeds of dog that will work for a person in a wheel chair. It doesn't have to be a GDS, which when trained to bite, is already a liability legally.
The OP getting a gun and trained to use it, would be the ultimate protection. A dog which will alert you will give you time to pull the gun. Like I said once before on a thread similar to this one a while ago; a smooth fox terrier hanging from a bad guys nuts will give me time to get my 12 Gage and blow the pricks head off.( and the SFT doesn't need to be trained to protect, at least the ones I had thirty years ago didn't).

Good luck in your search.

Plenty of police dogs have been taken out by meth addicts as well.  Without a gun to back them up a 250 pound meth addict can slam a police dog against a solid metal fence and break his ribs and mess the dog up (happened to one locally).  Unless the dogs are allowed to go for lethal grips in areas with major blood supplies (groin, neck, etc) the drugged out psycho will kill or maim the dog in a one on one fight in many cases.  Most PPD and police dogs are not trained to go for lethal targets and grips because the handlers and police don't want to have a suspect bleed out or even worse an innocent bystander bleed out.  So there has to be a human backup to help them with multiple targets (two assailants or more) or drugged out assailants with low or no pain perception.  The Czech police lost a lot of dogs to people with a sleeve and a piece of pipe or a gun in the early days before they changed their tactics.  They changed their bark and hold from the IPO style to a police style in which the dog stays back and doesn't sit still but moves which reduced their losses.  A PPD or a police dog can never be counted on to win against all opponents.  The police don't put the ones that got away on the news and some do get away from the cops and from the K9's.  Under the law in most cases if you have a trained PPD or a police dog their use is the same as using lethal force if the assailant is killed or seriously injured .. the dogs use as a deterrent, defensive or offensive weapons is very tricky if something goes wrong.

This is a funny thread.  Vomeisenhaus people who talk like you are just doing so to make up for an excuse as to why you are breeding such poor dogs.  A good breeder will NEVER say a german shepherd is not capable of being a man stopper.   Love to see that bully you fear so much attack someone with a good dog. You also think the owner will just stand that and look at the ground while the dog is fighting? Maybe play with their hair and look in the mirror? No they will be sticking glass in his eye if they are fighting for their life.

You are talking about humans disembowling people? lol Are we talking people or leopards here? hannibal lecter? you think you are going to cross him?  Humans have weaker jaws than just about everything you know? You are not going to run into a ninja dog protection expert slash serial killer then on top of that such a man is not going to be the one who wants to kill you for no reason? Remember people are going to be attacking the victim (dog owner) Not vice versa.  The victim and their dog fight for their life.  The toughest men on earth are not going to target this victim.

A german shepherd should be able to do so.  Most cant these days because we bred them not to.  The ones that can will.  I am sorry but humans are not gorillas.  We have thin skin.  When a dog smashes into you at 35mph and clamps onto your armpit you are going down.

You have not trained with any good dogs.  Not all police dogs are good either.  You are seriously talking about a few criminals getting the best of the gsd as proof? What a joke.  99.9 percent of the time the gsd or mal knocks the man down makes him scream and cry like a baby.  The rare time it does not happen? Well prey sometimes defeats the predator.  Just like a zebra will and has killed a lion. Just like an impala will kill a cheetah.  Must I go on?

Many people own weak dogs, and they attempt to use this as proof every dog out there sucks. I am sorry you got such a bad dog. But there are still good ones out there. Shame on the breeders who cannot produce decent dogs.

I can't believe bench pressing was brought up.  Muscles only give animals something to grab onto and rip into. We lift weights to look good.

PP dogs can be trained on wrists and are allowed to do anything they want.  That is a lethal part.  They are NOt if used as effective as a gun being shot.  But more people are going to mess with you and a gun then they would with you and a serious dog by far.  You cannot take a gun with you in public either. The guy is just going to take your gun and beat you with it.

Even celebs use dogs instead of bodyguards.  Eva mendes uses a dog as a guard. Men do not have the anatomy to deal with an animal that can put out 500 lbs of bite power and is willing to keep fighting.  Something called shock sets in.  ALso high risk of blood loss.  A lot of people here either never go to training OR just train with total garbage because if you did you would notice that when dealing with the decoy the odd really good dogs out there will nail a decoy in all sorts of nasty spots. Often the chest or stomach or they go for the face. I think people just experience family pets and think it speaks for everything.  There is very few good breeders out there these days.  But I wonder what koos or nate would say if you ask them how well their breeding dogs would do in a real attack on the handler in a real situation?

You really think someone is going to get past this? She was being stalked and set up. Would love to see someone here try and attack her.

Guns are legally allowed more places than dogs.... as long as you are properly permitted. getting a permit is not hard for responsible and law abiding citizens. I have held a concealed permit for many years. How do people take gard dogs where dogs are not permitted which is almost everywhere but some parks. Some parks even outlaw gsds and mals from being able to enjoy the facilities with their owners. She is only able to take that mal out and around because of who she is... let a normal everyday person try it and you will be bared from entering anywhere. Unless you lie and fake a service dog and that is lower than low......
