Hey everyone ! I went and took my DDR pup to get his weekly weigh in he is 39 pounds at 18 weeks. How much do you think we will weigh at a year and/or maturity. His name is Figo vom Jager Arbeiten Zwinger if your interested in the pedigree. Dont be afraid take a guess..

by Blitzen on 05 June 2013 - 00:06

Best guess - 75 to 80 lbs at maturity.

I second Blizen.  Depending, of course, on what condition you keep him in at maturity.  75-85 is my guesstimate.

I can't guess but if that is him in your avatar, very handsome.  OK,  I guess 85 lbs.  Best of luck  Nan  If you get tired of him, please, send him my way.  LOL

Yeah thats him in my avatar. Thanks for guesses so far. I think he is going to top out at a lean 85 pounds. Maybe people with these bloodlines that knew some of his ancestors will weigh in.

If you double their weight at about 17 weeks you get an *estimate* of adult weight.

by Blitzen on 05 June 2013 - 18:06

A good formula to estimate a large breed dog's mature weight - double the weight at 16 weeks. Add 5, 10 lbs for a male. This is assuming the dog is not overweight. You know you dog's weight at 18 weeks, 39 lbs, so have to estimate what is was 2 weeks before. Best guess would be 35 lbs x 2 = 70 lbs + 5/10 = 75/80. There is always a margin for error for weight depending on the overall condition of the dog.

No offense. I was told it was double 18.5 - 19 weeks for the gsd, but I wasnt asking for a formula. Just some fun at guessing. Never had the chance to do this before! By the way at 17 weeks he was 36.4 pounds and thats been about his growth rate 2.5 lbs a week since 8 weeks.

95 to 100 pounds, my best guess. However, take note, I was always way off the number of jelly beans in any jar.
