by yellowrose of Texas on 06 January 2007 - 07:01
No echo she didnt, because she told me she knows now she will never do that again, she learned her lesson somewhere on the other thread, because I told her about my one time not getting it and the dog was positive from Texas A & M and she responded .

Echo,
I have some information about OFA and the hips being lax after having puppies. I don't want any flaming so don't bother. You can't be a teacher/mentor if you just pass judgement and condemn new people. You will by far improve the breed by taking these new kids under your wing and help them learn! I was new at breeding and had to learn also. I just didn't share my ignorance with anyone else. So here goes!
I imported my first dog. She was Yena-Akbar you can see her in the pedigree database. And as you can see, if you look at her pedigree she is riddeled with dogs that have a tendancy to throw bad hips! She accidentally got bred on her FIRST heat cycle at the age of 7 months!!!! I now know how the mother of a 14 year old girl feels when her daughter comes home and tells her mom that she is pregnant! I was SICK! I waited till Yena was around 5 years old to OFA her. She had many strikes against her.....poor genetics(for hips), being bred at 7 months, and age! Ya know what, she OFAed Good! You can go there to OFA and see too! So that stating I do not believe that they go lax for ever after having puppies. Yena didn't! If that were indeed true then that would be a problem that we would talk about more and a bitch's working career would be OVER after the first litter and I know several people that get the SchH1 and have a litter and then go on to get the other titles.
Just for all to know, I now do OFA on all my kiddo's before they are bred but I did have to learn too!

Vickie, That's excellent information Thank You for sharing !!
Like I said before the information I have regarding Lax hips to underage females whelping is simply what I have been told by others. And yes I passed it along, I had felt it was fair information to share.
Maybe on some the effects are more profound while on others not so much. Who knows ?
I think that some of the members are looking into it with OFA though.
But again Thanks for sharing.
I still absolutely beleive brucelosis should be done before breeding but that's just my opinion I guess.
