Hi, Has anyone noticed it is harder to get homeowner's insurance if your dog is on their "bad dog" list? If anyone has a company in California that covers German Shepherds, I would be interested. Thanks.

I had read in the Detroit paper in our area that it all depends on what dog you have. My insurance happens to cover my dogs/kennel, thank goodness for that. If it helps any I have Farmers Insurance. Good Luck! Kel

I looked into Farmer's earlier last year since so few companies write policies in Florida anymore. They wouldn't do a policy since we had more than 4 dogs.

In Calif you might want to try Kemper, Chubb & Foremost.

I dont have any insurance any longer. The country of Texas I live in u cant get anyone but a rural and they dont cover German Shepherds without tacking on another 900-1500 a year with exclusions.....My dogs are first and Im not getting rid of them I have researched every avenue, and their are none I can afford. For year they never knew I had any dogs, but I grew and its obvious now so I keep a tight ship and walk by faith not sight and pray alot. Let nothing happen at my place...........

In California, Farmers will and State Farm. They sent an agent out to meet and greet my dogs one time. I have had both companies, both companies know I have rottie'snd gsd's Farmers a few years back quit writing with dogs. Right now they are accepting the dogs. State Farm does ask if they are protection trained.

I had State Farm and they just got to expensive for me, and they also asked if they were protection trained. I now have Farmers in Michigan, and have no problem with them. They also know I have 6 dogs now.
