http://www.dantero.com/videos.php Okay, I know Im beating Ring Sport to death here but I think this site has some awesome videos I thought that were worth sharing. Now, the first video on this site, I would think to be French Ring, right? Now what about the 2nd and 3rd? What is that type of work labeled as? Is that what is referred to as Street Ring?

Thanks for sharing that link. That looks like so much fun! I don't know the answer to your question about which is which but I wish I had some people to do that with.I'm referring to the ones that said environmental, which is possibly street ring, just a guess. It's amazing to see the capabilities of a good dog with good training.

Mose and babyeagle -- thanks for sharing the sites -- hope all have a chance to look at ring sports -- then you shall see why many GSDs do Sch and are laughable & incaplable of other avenues -- you will see why Sch is so pathetic -- and to say that makes a dog breed worthy .. look /listen and learn -- hope many jump off this show and korlasse bit -- and start to breed worhty GSDs -- maybe we won't have so many malinois around and taking the GSD place like we do [ no offense to mals .. i own one too !!]--Also check your search engines for Belgium PSA sites

Mose, Yes, the first video is French Ring. The second two videos are just doing environmental bitework. Dantero Kennel is owned bu a lady named Kadi Thingvall. I have talked with her over discussion boards and telephone. Very nice and knowlegable lady. Did you see the plastic bottles in the van? The tarps and ribbons, etc? When the dog is on top of, or inside the van, it is in an unusual "environment". The bottles and ribbons, tarps, water, etc. Are all types of environmental stressors. You will see this type of environmental stuff in Mondio Ring, PSA, and American Street Ring. Police Service Dogs are often trained in this style too for obvious reasons. Glad to see you are so enthused about this stuff. If/and/when you buy a dog, I hope you do as much research as you are doing now. Good luck. Any more questions, ask away.

I recently bought a female pup (Ginger vom Fallsview) who has an outstanding prey drive. Im going to do Schutzhund and show with her first, but after Schutzhund I may do SAR or one of the many Ring Sports if at all possible.

see how she develops her personality as well as her talents. Some dogs have a blast with new challenges such as adding a tarp,or water,or more noise or whatever you can think of,jumping through windows for ex. and they always want more. Some dogs really enjoy finding "buried treasure". See how the 2 of you evolve together and go with that. It should always be fun .
