My 10 month old American Bulldog keeps eating his poop. He will also try and get into the cat box to eat the cat's poop. Is there anything I can do to stop this disgusting behavior?

People will need more info to answer you. What are you feeding? How many meals a day? How much food each meal? Has he been to a vet for health check up lately? Is he bored? How much exercise does he get?

Is he underweight and does he have any health issues that concern you?

He is very healthy. Last vet check up was one month ago. He currently is eating 5 1/2 cups of Nutro Natural choice large breed puppy food. His current weight is 92 lbs he is a 10 month old american bulldog. He has puppy play time three times a week with other dogs and we go on walks every day for about 30 min. We also have a good solid hour per day of playing catch or whatever toy strikes his fancy.

Some dog eat poop and for dogs this is totally natural, for us this is totally gross. About the only thing i could do to stop one of my dog from eating her own poop was to be standing behind her with a pooper scooper and get it before she could turn around. Drove me insane! Because she never did it before she had puppies. But i guess they drove her to do this and then she got hooked. :p
Walk him on lead, pick up ASAP and correct him for even looking at crap.
I'm not Nutro's biggest fan, 5.5 cups a day a is a heck of a lot of kibble. Try a higher quality food and feed less. Maybe this will stop.
Or you can try "Forbid, Distaste or SEP (stop eating poop) which are food additives that are suppose to make poop taste bad. But don't you think poop should taste bad already?
This could be a by product of a few things. Food not giving enough nutrition. Bad habit from his previous owner, comes from a line of crap eaters, yes it does run in some lines.
Better supervision is the cheapest answer.

I've heard that adding pineapple juice to the food works but have no personal experience with it.

Dragonfry, mothers will do this to hide evidence of their offspring from predators!! It's just instinct . Call me weird but I thought that was cool when I learned that lol

I am going to hazard a guess and say the reason he is eating his poop is because it smells good and the reason it smells good is because there is undigested food in it I would try a better grain free dog food. Orijen has a great grain free food for large breed puppies you could try. Like the poster above said, I would change the food to a more easily digestible brand so that when it comes out the other end it doesn't smell like food. Home cook some turkey or chicken and add it to your kibble as well.

fresh pineapple (not canned) works great, little doting/messy to prepare it, freeze it and zip lock it. (all you need is like 2 table spoons in their food). You can also go to Tractor supply and pick up tablets i think i got 60 tablets for like $12.00. make sure if you have more than 1 dog all dogs get a pill including offender.

Added to what Eldee says, the reason they go eat the cats' poo
as well is that cat food has a higher meat content, so smells
extra delish ...
