Birdy

by Birdy on 15 December 2006 - 14:12

I have a friend moving to Northern Ohio "North of Mansfield" and is looking for a group to work with. He has both working and showlines that he trains. So looking for a club where both are allowed. I appreciate any suggestions you can offer that I can pass onto him. Happy Holidays Everyone! Birdy...

Birdy, Isn't that sad that you have to write "so looking for a club where both are allowed". Our club, for one, although in another state, welcomes anyone with any breed and any bloodline who is serious about the club and training commitment. It is sad that there are really clubs who will, without any grounds, simply dismiss someone who has interest because of bloodlines or breed. I hope your friend finds a club. Tell him/her to check the USA and WDA website and DVG too. I am sure there must be clubs.

We are starting a WDA club after the first of the year just North of Columbus. We have been affiliated with other organizations and have had a very successful club. Members are both from working and show lines. If interested please respond with your e-mail address so I can contact you.

I would try Bonnie and John Nussbaums club in Dalton, OH. O.G. Ohio is one of the oldest clubs in USA

Thanks everyone... Hodie, He as 3 very nice males. One is working one is working/showline cross and his first old man is straight showline. He's currently in San Diego as he's in the military. He's a relative of my husbands. When staying in Kansas City he was booed for the cross and showline although the performed better than the group's straight working dogs. It was he who asked me to make sure they accept all GSD's no matter their bloodlines. Hi Ron and Ronny! I have family in Delaware/Morrow county. How far North of Cols are you talking about? I look forward to hearing from you. Smokey I'll look them up. Dalton is about 50 miles from where he'll be living. Birdy...

Booing anydog is just in poor taste. Especially for his bloodlines and not his performance. I don't think you would make it back to your car on your own power, if you tried that around here! LOL

Do clubs really refuse membership/training on the basis of bloodlines??? We don't care if your bring a g-d giraffe out on a leash if it can do the work and you are willing to put in the dedication necessary to train it!

If they do, and tell you so, get on the phone with your regional director (and even higher up) and let them know what was said. That's not supposed to be happening.

When I first started at my SchH club (OG Ohio Hundesport, in Dalton, Ohio), they let me train my Saint Bernard in just OB and tracking, they treated me like any other member there. We Welcome anyone with any dog :-) Jessica GSDBrisko@aol.com
