I, like Bob-o find myself in a new city having to go through vets one at a time until I find the one I trust. Wouldn't it be great if we could start a registry of sorts and list all of those vets that GSD enthusiasts have found to be above average, listed by region. Maybe even right here on the database?

ONGMC,
That would be great. It would also help to have that list when traveling. Who do you call when you're in a strange town for a trial or vacation?

These two are really good in our area. While the first dosen't know alot about the working dog as a whole he is extremely good! Very particular and excellent with diagnostics. Also takes EXCELLENT OFA's and is not too expensive. The second is excellent also. Dr. Best is a member of the Tulsa Schutzhund Club and owns Dobe's and Rottie's. Trains in alot of different venues.

Dr. Kelly is excellent, probably my favorite! He is very good with orthopedics and I consider him one of the best vets around. He has dealt with most of my high drive dogs and one Czech male that is extremely agressive when you walk in the door of any vet! We now sedate him in the car with Domotor and then wake him up in the car with the Anticeden (sp?). I give the dog the shot my self and all works out great. Dr. Spriggs is also excellent with fertility procedures and has a large clientele that come to him for AI's.

I am very fortrunate here, though i drive 40 minutes to the Vet, got one that knows working dogs. He use to do a large police departments K-9 unit. He knows temperment, knows a good import when he sees one. Could not ask for a better vet.
Also amazeing a vet you can call in the middle of the night and he will meet you at his office. Also if he is not 100% sure on something will tell you and cunsult with the experts and actually call you at home with the answer. Will tell you how much test cost, if he feels they are really neccesary or not and what they would actually acomplish.
