i noticed french people sometimes see aggression as something else not the way a lot of others see it, they see it as a bad trait not something you want in a pp dog. Kinda confusing. When they talk about it, seemed like they meant a ticking time bomb a unblanced /unstable risky dog.

While a lot of us want a dog that has strong aggression. Everyone just means diff things when they say something.

You guys really think you can't have a dog that is strong in civil aggression but can't be all around balanced dog? I think all that matters is how stable the dog is. You should be able to take a pp dog with you anywhere or its not a pp dog its just a junkyard or guard dog. All pp dogs should have strong civil aggression. They just need the stablity so you take them everywhere. You dont need extremes. I think what paul wants a dog that has strong civil aggression isn't a bad thing at all if he also wants a stable dog. WHo would not want a dog like that? Sounds like the perfect gsd to me.

Abby

Balanced drives, not just prey or defense or fight but all of them  but all of these drives very high. This is the great about living in a free country is we can all have different opinions, feeling and thoughts and it's okay. You may not need or desire a street able, or protection dog that will and does bite and I understand and that is okay. I do not need or desire a house dog, sport dog or a bird dog. But I do want a dog that I can send to bite and he does and stop when I tell he to stop or stop him on the way to the bite. It is just different needs and desires.

Most it not all dogs have the potential to bite, even a sport dog and if it bites it's a risk.

Naturally a GSD will roam the neighbor hood breeding when ever they can, getting a dog to do what you want requires a controlled enviroment .

I lessen the risk of my dog by aggressively barking at the gate or in the truck.

Paul

Thank you for the discussion without the aggression. I like aggressive dog not people. LOL

paul a pp dog needs to be a house dog or its worthless

it will be in the kennel while someone breaks into ur house and kills you?

it should sleep on the floor of your bedroom.

Destiny

My dog can go around my house. I can do without a dog in the house. Besides by the time they get into my house they have killed my dog and I have armed myself. Up to date that has not happened so all is good, and no dog hair in the house.

EVIL    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil

Evil is profound
immorality, especially when regarded as a supernatural force,[1] for example in religious belief. Evil is usually perceived as the dualistic opposite of good. Definitions of evil vary, as does the analysis of its root motives and causes; however, evil is commonly associated with conscious and deliberate wrongdoing, discrimination designed to harm others, humiliation of people designed to diminish their psychological well-being and dignity, destructiveness, motives of causing pain or suffering for selfish or malicious intentions, and acts of unnecessary or indiscriminate violence.[2]

i would consider hitler, pol-pot, stalin as candidates for evil - posters on this board????

not being a bit melodramatic Mr G???

Paul,

Sounds like your neighborhood is a couple of steps safer than mine.  I can't help but wonder when your outside dogs are protecting your homefront, who is protecting your dogs?  I never ever leave my dog out alone.  There is always a plethora of riff raff out there trying to challenge him.  I do not believe it would be fair to my dog to leave him to fend for himself from the incessant baiting.

Paul, if you want a dog that just patrols around the grounds, then you really shouldn't have a GSD--they were bred to work WITH their handler, as a partner, not FOR their handler, like a machine.  A GSD that doesn't have a true companionship relationship to at least one person in its life is a broken dog--that's not the life the breed founder created them to live.

Back to the Topic...

Paul Garrison,

Well said, i'm new here and have noticed that there are some people "in clicks"....they have formed sort of their own cult...
I was critized that as a newbie, just coming on here and posting.....they forget that each and every one on this Forum was once a newbie...

They attack like a pack of dogs....

Guess what, I attacked back holding a "machine gun"......
Not that I enjoyed it, but we all have limits...

In fact, Admin had to step in and calm things down a bit...on 1 topic....
There's 1 lady in particular, she posts name calling and when you insult her back, she reports to Admin...

When you post, instead of sticking to the topic, the clicks re-unite and want to know your credibility, what have you done, what have you achieved, what have you bred, etc...
Even if you tell them, they still don't believe you so why bother....

2 weeks ago I had a neighbor that decided to feed my wife's PP dog some turkey.. He moved and then the we had a few training lesson on not taking food that is not in your bowl. I record all activity on my property.

vk4gsd   " humiliation of people designed to diminish their psychological well-being and dignity" Need I say more?

Hexe...That does not even disserve a response.

Aadilah07......Some will get on another like a "Pack of dogs on a 3 legged cat"    A computer is like a chain link fence. Sharp dogs and sharp people (fear motivated) are real mouthy and aggressive and long as they are behind their protection fence or screen.

I read posts that some good people like Gustav and Slamdunc and others bring good information and balance to some of the others, and that gives me the desire to be a part to the solution and maybe make a difference. I am a working dog lover and I think if someone wants a dog someone needs to help them find the right dog.

I had to apologize to Moon on this very thread for what I said so it happens just had to Cowboy up and take responsibility for my own actions. I think opinions need to be expressed to put your own in retrospect.
