How does it work getting a puppy imported? When is the payment made? How do you know you are not being robbed? Kaiser

from who are you gettig the pup?do your homework first and most likely you will have to send the money first email me I may help you

The way to make sure you do not get "robbed" is to do your homework. If you have no prior connection with the breeder, you better be asking a lot of questions. That being said, many of us on this board deal with kennels in other countries all the time and I have imported many pups without a problem. Do your homework. If you do not know what that entails, then find someone to help you.

go to worldclassgsd.com. The breeder is very nice and answers most questions. I got an Import pup form his. He is a Dux/Yello grandson. The prices are resonable. He not only focuses on the top VA producing dogs. He also focuses on dogs that produce good. Are you going to get an imported pup or are you just asking?

Why do you want an import? You have a much better chance of getting a good pup from a breeder here in the States. Unless you have a good connection you will likely end up with a lower quality pup that the Foreign breeder is needing to get rid of. Plus if you do have a problem and the Foreign Breeder refuses to stand behind the pup you are OUT OF LUCK. As noted above if you do go with an import, better do your homework. Why do you want a GSD for? Show, Pet, Sport , Protection???

yes Desert 100% agree, get a pup from here

by GSDkid on 30 November 2006 - 03:11

Desert you are right. .actually the reson why I bought from the breeder is that he covers 5 years. He breeds and imports. MY dog got a VP from a local show. 2 out of 5. So i do agree with you when i first got my dog i though that only Pink paers can enter the german Sieger show. But other dogs can enter too. Right My friend has a Quantum pup I dont think she imported it was too young. So a pregnant dam was probably bred in germany and born in the US. Yet that pup is probably better than mine even though mine is an import. Kaiser just because it is an import doesn't mean its a nice dog. Guys correct me if i am wrong I am learning still.

We imported a puppy last February. We communicated extensivly with the sellers via email. Payment in full is expected to be wired to the seller prior to the puppy being shipped. They took care of the arrangments there and also took care of the registration papers being transfered to us at the SV and the report we needed for the AKC. For us it was a great experieince, nerve racking since we worried about the puppy being sent so far. The people we bought from were wonderful and so is our Boa. It would be nice to think all go so well. Based on some posts here it obviously doesn't.

Some of the prices on the imports from the website mentioned are outragious! For top puppies (from VA sire--Germany), you should not pay more than $3,000 including shipping and handling. For nice pink papered puppies with excellent pedigrees, you should not pay more than $2,500 including shipping. Even with those prices, significant profits are being made. So those folks who sell puppies for $3,500 and more plus shipping are really cleaning up. The Germans do not sell their puppies for that much.

I have imported 10 puppies this year. Price of pups is usually around 800-1000 Euro plus shipping. This is for pink papered good woirking blood line pups. In dollars that is max $1300 plus shipping. Who ever is getting $3500 a pup is makeing a fortune as pups are always a gamble. Who ever is paying this is crazy!!!! Mike
