Congratulations on ALL your accomplishments with your girl. Great news on the DM free also.
I am curious though if she really is a bi-color or more of a black and tan.
I guess that's a little quirk of mine, as to where and when to differentiate between the two.
Only wondering because if I were to buy a new dog, a pup, and was told it would be bi-color, I don't think I would be happy to have so much color up the inside of the legs.
Whatever the color, your dog is very nice

I don't think I would be happy to have so much color up the inside of the legs.

Doesn't bother me any.  I still consider her bi color, just not a melanistic bi.  I will concede that it really probably could go either way, though.

[Can you try and arrange some photos of that, pls ?]

I will try my best :)

Jackie, where are you taking her herding at?  Who is the import male you will be breeding her to?

I'm going to Kelly Malone's in Canal Fulton.  The import is a male named Wegas Kleinen Holzweg.

And I really like the 16 month stack pic.

Thank you :)  I will admit, I'm quite surprised at how her rear has mellowed.  Did not at all think this was how she would look when she arrived at 14 weeks!

Nice looking German SL, right? Though the feet and pasterns leave a bit to be desired...

Guess again!

Oh, the things you find by climbing a dog's family tree!  This is from the 6th generation of Wesson's pedigree. Gorgeous dog!

2x GV Campaigner's Gatewood Uzi :)  He's a dog I wish I could have seen.  There's a littler now, about two or three years old, that was bred using frozen semen from him :)

Sun, no German would believe that this dog ( only looking at the picture, NOT looking at the pedigree) is a GSL, never ever, sorry.

Xeph, would you try to stack your female like a GSL, only for me?
Head not this high, hindquarters not this far stretched, bodyweight pushed a littlebit in front?
I really think your girl isn´t bad at all and I really would like to stack her by myself...

Your dog is very nice xeph, I have a very nice male that is 1/2 ASL. I would just like to know more about coloring in the event I ever had to choose the color.
I wish you all the best with her and it is wonderful you are proud (and well you should be), and having fun with her.
That, at the end of the day is priceless !!!
Sunsilver- I agree with susie, that girl looks like an ASL, just with more color.

"That GIRL looks like an ASL???"

Kitkat, do you have your glasses on??  Teeth Smile

First of all, Uzi was most definitely male.

Secondly, here's what I think of as a typical ASL:

Steep front and upper arm, long back, swan neck and too-feminine head, very long uppper thiigh, and the hock is so loose that it can be planted flat on the ground.

The current dogs are getting back some size and substance to them, but the dogs from the '90s were generally rather light-boned.

The dog above has the solid body typical of many GSL, and a nice, masculine head (though not as strong as a GSL.)  His shoulder and front could definitely pass for that of a German dog.

The main thing that brands it as an ASL is the long upper thigh, but I've seen current German dogs with thighs that were just as long.

He could definitely pass as a ASL/GSL cross.

Xeph, Wegas vom Kleinen Holzweg looks like he's a good selection for this girl, phenotypically. If he's got the work ethic of some of the better dogs behind him, too, it will be extremely interesting to see how this pairing would develop.

Sunsilver, I have to side with susie, too.  I could tell that this wasn't a MODERN ASL, but I had no question that he wasn't a WGSL, either...though I could believe ASL/WGSL cross.

He looks quite typical of the better males of his era, IMO.

Beauty is and always will be in the eye of the beholder. Personally I like Uzi judging by his photos. AKC  "styles" and "types" of ALL breeds do change, mainly due to the whims of the judges. I think it's pretty easy to fault judge dogs of all lines and each does seem to have it's own laundry list of pro and cons. ...ASL's generally have great toplines, GSL's generally don't. GSL's generally have better heads than ASL's.  Frankly that's what I like the most about the breed as a whole, the diversity.
