Xeph

Ms Wesson is 14 months old, a bit long and looking gangly, but still precious and pretty for the most part.

My biggest complaints are that she is hocky and long in loin.  Just got her back yesterday, and it was dark, so I've not gotten to see her move around again yet.  Hoping for better weather this week so I can get video.

She needs some weight on her.  Her lack of weight right now really exaggerates her length

Beautiful bitch of lovely type, nice rich pigment and excellent topline. Nice girl!

It is extremely hard to honestly critique this girl from this picture. She is over stretched and looks very unstable the way she is stacked.  She looks so uncomfortable. This is not the proper way to stack a GSD regardless of what lines it is.  American showline dog owners are given a really hard time and are accused of ruining the breed.  Not to be ughly or argumentative but, posting a picture like this really doesn't help the situation for American showline breeders.  I was an American GSD breeder and exhibitor back in the 80-90's. None of my dogs looked like this.  So no, I am not a workingline narrow minded owner.  I just love the breed.

Can you get her to stand up and then take a picture?

Devil Smile Sorry! Couldn't help it!!!  Linda is right.

She was slipping a little bit on the floor, but I have to admit, I don't think this is a terrible photo.  You can see what needs to be seen.  I'll see if I can get something a little better in the next couple of days though,

Regardless, the girl does have a good bit of rear, and her length does exaggerate everything.  She walks clean and moves away clean, for the record.  I would like a bit less rear.

Now, if you'd like me to make her appear shorter bodied so she's more appealing to you, I can, but like I said, it's not like you can't see things like shoulder angle and what not in this photo :p

I don't think you could make her more appealing to me, personally, but that's not what's important. I was totally teasing in my first post, but genuinely believe Linda is right- that sort of dog or photo is not conducive to improving the overall stigma associated with American line breeders. Frankly, she looks unbalanced and incorrect and I wonder how she gets from point A to point B. I can't imagine that she stands like that or looks like that all the time. I would be curious to see her standing "normally."

No, she doesn't stand like that at all all the time.  I know many people that very much like her, but also don't believe it's the same dog when I post a picture of her (after they've seen her in person) ;)

She's a very dry dog (which I like).  Like I said, I'd like less rear.  She has more rear than front, always has.  I'd like her to be better balanced and shorter coupled.  I do love her feet and strong pasterns, good forechest, nice neck, good withers.

Here is the same bitch right before she left for her breeder's place for a few months

Ok, much better! The first pic looks like an American line dog, not my cup of tea, but perfectly fine if someone likes them like that. I don't like to criticize any dog- whatever we may not like about them is never their fault! She looks like if she needs a drink of water, she can probably get herself to the bucket. Wink Smile

The second one shows odd hocks, to my eyes. I am NOT an American fancier, so my opinion is worth less than nothing. I know nothing of these lines and what is desirable; I am merely looking from a basic soundness perspective. She looks weak in the rear, like she would break down under heavy strain. She doesn't look that extreme in the first pic.

Thanks for taking my post as it was meant; I was logging back in to change it because I thought it came off too mean toward her which was not my intent. I just think it's best for ALL GSDs if we show them in their healthiest light.

Jenni, she is hocky (long in hock).  Her toes also look awkwardly long in the photo, which makes the appearance more awkward.

She is growing and going through all sorts of awkward stuff right now.  She actually looks like a tube of meat presently due to lack of body weight (not unhealthy, just adolescent thin).  This happens in some AmLines (particularly the west coast stuff) where they go long and tubular and then start to body out.  It DOES create an awkward looking animal!

I'll grab some more pictures for you and stack her in various ways :).  Hopefully I'll be able to do it outside tomorrow ^_^
