Does anyone have good links or recipies for nutritionally complete soft food? I have a pup with esophogeal diverticulam from a PRAA surgery and he needs to be on a soft slurry like food. Canned food is too darned expensive plus it is full of junk. Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Here is a link for a food called NDF. I had a dog with a throat problem and we tried everything and this worked great. You can water it down a bit to make it easier for the dog to eat and at the same time you don't have to add so much water that the dog can't eat enough. It isn't cheap but they don't have to eat a huge amount of it to maitain. Good Luck http://www.phdproducts.com/main/phdpath.asp?page=196

Since you already feed a high quality dry food, could you soak it in goats milk until soft then run it through your blender? Most grocery stores carry goats milk now. Good luck with the pup.

cow's milk is not good for dogs and kill puppies.the benefits of goats milk r easily found thru any search engine.the blender is the best advice !

The blender is great. I use to soak the food and then hand mush it when weaning puppies with all them howling cause they were hungry, now a couple seconds in the blender with warm water and done. Never thought of the goat milk. mike

I make a thick patte out of cooked chicken livers, bread cubes and goats milk.

The goat's milk can be found two (2) ways. First, condensed, and second, dry. It is very close to the dam's milk and very digestable. I believe that since many people are lactose-intolerant, that the goat's milk has won itself a presence on the shelves of most grocery stores. The nice thing about the condensed milk is that is is ready from the can, and does not need refrigeration unless opened. As far as I know, only a calf can digest cow's milk well! Bob-O

Many stores in our area have goats milk in the carton in the refrigerator section, right next to cows milk and soy milk. We also know some goat breeders we can get milk from. The suggest freezing it for when needed, we've never tried that but may sometime.
