I do SAR with my dogs and ofcoarse there are problems that can happen but it is getting more and more frequent up here for hunters and trappers to place traps even illeagaly place water traps on land. and these are leg traps that will break your dogs leg. its relly frusterating to hear about people who had to shoot their dog because he was being strangled from a water trap placed on land and they couldent get it open. one dog got in a water trap their owner got the dog out. and then 10 feet down the trail she broke her foot in a bear trap. there are many wolf and bear traps that people set and never check. was hiking with some friends and found a carcas of a dog with their foot in the trap if you are going to do it please mark your traps and mark them well so people can see them i would be livid if my dog gets her foot in a trap. there is soo much wolf hunting going on we have to be careful with our dogs so hunters dont shoot them thinking they are a wolf. oy just a rant

they are trying to enshrine hunting in idahos constitution including traping. i have nothing against hunting but we nolonger need to trap things for fur there are too many risks involved. if you want it go hunt it.

I had one of my kitties get caught in a leg trap.... she chewed her legs off to come home. There was nothing I could do but take her
to the vet to be PTS. It was cold out, which is probably the only reason she didn't bleed out.

I had to keep my kiddos out of the woods after that for fear they might walk into one.

Honestly, I hate traps. I think they are inhumane. We had a lot of Coyotes, which I am positive is why the traps were put out, but
we could just as easily shoot them, which we did on several occasions.

I have no problem with hunting. We are hunters... I can't stand traps.
