I THINK IT REALLY SAD THAT YOU ARE GIVING UP A DOG YOU HAD FOR FIVE YEARS.GOOD HOMES ARE HAD TO FIND FOR A OLDER DOG.MYBE YOU SHOULD FIND A PLACE THAT WOULD TAKE A DOG.GO READ THE STORY ABOUT SHASTA VOM HAUS VIANDEN ON THE DATABASE.UNDER GALLARY.SHE ALLMOST DIED LOOKING FOR HER OWNER OF FIVE YEARS.

by Brandoggy on 21 November 2006 - 21:11

Vianden I tried to find that story about Sasha but I couldn't do you think you could link it here?? I too would try to find a place that takes dogs..I had to be in an apartment for a while and I found one that took dogs and for a $150 deposit I moved in. You can't give up a life long partner due to what could be a "temperary" living arrangement. I dont know why you are moving but isn't there someone who could take her until you find a place that you can have her?

Oh, just what this owner needs is a guilt trip. I'm sure the decision was hard enough but sometimes life comes before dogs. You have no idea why this owner is moving or circumstances involved. What you said could be very hurtfull to allot of people.

Yes it is sad that she is looking for a home and I don't think you are seeing it from her point. It is hard enough when you do have to place them for what ever reason and then to have someone you don't even know bash you. At least she is being responable and placing her not dunping her off on the streets or the pound. And there are homes out there, they are just harder to find. I have a 7 year old corgi I rescued I did not want a young pup. There are great reasons to get an older dog ie already house trained, obedience, and so on and many people don't what the hassle of puppy chewing and potty training. I don't see you writing the people to the right (for sale ads ) and telling them not to place thier dog. It is hard enough when you have to make that choice I don't think this is easy for her to do.

4Pack...... is absolutelu rite why dont we as members of the DB try to help this person find a home for their dog? No more questions needed. Giving up a dog of quality is hard enough due to personal circumstances. C'mon Gang lets pitch in, for cryin out loud we are in the Holiday season. We can do better!

what about the area the dog is living in - the temperament of the dog, whether the dog likes and gets along with other dogs, and some substantial stuff to be going on with,to help people when asking to try finding a new home. A new owner that is willing to take on a 5 yr old needs to know about these things right from the word go, before even seeing the dog, to establish whether it would work or not. The dogs breeding and "blood" is not a consideration if the dog needs a kind family home. Perhaps that is why the owner of the dog came up against people feeling alittle harsh, the request in the first place has no sentiment to it. Mo Lakin - Mascani

I agree, still not reason to jump on the owner. They may very well have already tried all other avenues. MAybe there isn't affordabe houseing for pets and they are broke or going to school? Could be a million different reasons. Lets just be helpful and ask the questions about the dog we need answers to to find it the right "new" home.
