Who bought Branko Vam Saltztalblick? I think they were asking about 15K EUROS. Not a show dog though , huh?

I hope the dog craps out gold with the kind of money they're asking for!

Seems to me a number of years ago, say 20 /21 it was published that some Americans offered $250,000.00 (US)for VA1 Dingo vom Haus Gero and the answer was NO! That was an "offer"---- Not a purchase! Morgan

To the original poster: I believe you misunderstood. I am familiar with this kennel, they were most likely referring to VA1 Lasso vom Neuen Berg. The dog is owned by their kennel and I do believe he was brought into this country for $250,000-300,000. That's what I have been told, anyway.

I remember the talk when Lasso came to the US. I do not believe that was the MOST. Larus quite likely brought a 7 digit price. There are others as well. Remember that selling a dog to some parts of the world is very different than others. To the Asians no price is too high to have the best. Conversely a seller will demand a higher price since they will be un likely to ever use the dog for stud again.

This reminds me of the Arabian Horse boom-bust. In the late 1970s-earlier 1980s, Arabian horses were bringing record amounts at sales. Horses supposedly traded hands for previously unheard of amounts, sounding much like what is reported here. In fact, many of these horses that supposedly were sold for $100,000 or more were actually sold for much less, with the buyer and the seller both reporting this enormous amount, but having a private agreement concerning the actual sales amount. This was to continue to inflate the market for incoming Arabian horse buyers-investors. People who weren't into horses would go into a trust to purchase a horse together as an "investment". Of course, the Arabian horse market went bust in the later 1980's and 1990s. I remember seeing a mare listed at auction who was supposedly sold for around $50,000 a few years prior, but who's selling auction price was $5,000. It's been a really long time...don't ask me to remember who she was. But I remember seeing the fliers listing the horses for sale, and then asking those who had attended the auction how much the horses actually sold for.
