I have a bitch who is a grand daughter of Sammy vom Drachenberg. Her breeder told me that Sammy was purchased for $300,000.00. Others have confirmed this, but others have told me this is not so. I'm just curious if anyone knows what his purchase price was and what the highest price is that someone has paid for a GSD! Just curious! Tari

$300,000.00 for a dog? gosh! what do some of you guys do for a living? you guys need to let me in on the secret of "how to afford expensive dogs" deal :) I actually feel sorry for dogs whos being used for profit. they do not get the respect that they deserve as a dog. I also feel sorry for each German shepherd whos in China right now... I sure as hope that the china's government hasn't yet slaughtered them.

Believe me, if I paid $300,000 for a dog I would respect it like crazy!  :)  As far as the profit factor goes, I'm fairly certain the dog is unaware of this afront.  Or maybe he is aware of it and it's a tremendous boost to his ego. Just kidding.

Hello, There are prices been paid in excess of what is mentioned here. As our well respected expert,Britt, pointed out so wrongly, we have to forgive her....she has no glue whatsoever, these highpriced dogs live a better live than some peopel in the western countrys. What you have to have in mind, is, dogs of that value are not considerd "dogs" as in our minds. For their new owners they are a Status symbol. You can rest assured, these dogs have their own servants, aswell as the best medical attention one can buy for money. These dogs will not face any dangers as their owners are peopel that know how to get around things. Just like in China with the number"7" is considerd to be a lucky number, some guys pay a couple of 100.000$ to get a license plate with 3 "7" on it. Kind Regards Ulli Dresbach

Yes there are dogs that fetch that type of price. The Japanese will pay phenominal amounts of money to buy the number one dog at the biggest shows. As far as the poor dog being sold for all that money Brit, think of Paris Hiltons little rat dog that has it's own servant, team of trainers, stylist, cook, dietician, manucurist, these dogs have a pampered life fit for a king. Wouldn't feel sorry for them, no more kennel, they probably get their own suite.
