Reese was from an animal cruelty case and surrendered since the gal couldn't afford to take them back in, can't believe they were going to give her the dogs back anyhow, considering the condition they were in, actually there were 2 moms with pups. Reese's pups were born in AC, a few days after her intake..Both emaciated, and tied to chains their whole life. Unfortunately the other mom was PTS to make room at the AC.
I told them I would take her and worked on transport from New Mexico to Montana, thanks be to the other transporters. I named her Reese, since she looks just like a past rescue I had and kept. She is the sweetest almost 2 yr old girl. Her pups are awesome also, and most have deposits for adoption so far.
Then 2 days before the transport the gal called again and said she had another Purebred GSD mom and 9 puppies and would I please take them??? I named her Maggie... Darn when it rains it poors. So I took them in too, that mom is only 1 yr old, good grief, one yr old!!!!! She was a stray and had her pups under a trailer next to a body shop. The owner of the shop, didn't want to deal with pups. He had been feeding the girl, since she was hanging out there.
Sorry, just had to vent and show off these really sweet girls, that didn't deserve this!!!! Steph
Reese and pups below, then Maggie, second rescue GSD mom..

So glad you took them in Krazy! Poor moms and pups! Sad to hear one mom was already PTS. Those pups strongly resemble purebred GSDs...could it be that the person was breeding purebred, BYB quality GSDs? Those puppies are so adorable.
So many "rescues" really have their heads screwed on backwards. It's shocking to me the huge lack of communication between rescues and shelters, so many that have policies about not sending their dogs to other rescues. Yes, some rescues and shelters do a good job of coordinating, but too many do not.
Also, too many rescues out there that refuse to work with breeders, refuse to allow breeders to foster or help. and breed club "rescues" are a joke IMO.
Back when I volunteered at a small private shelter, it was always crammed full of animals (it was no-kill unless animals were very sick or dangerous, they did not allow pits or rottweilers) yet the local public shelter and local humane society always seemed to be 60 to 80% empty. (I know they weren't truly empty, they just PTS the majority of their animals, and I know the head of the local HS got a 6 figure income.)
I also worked at a collie and irish setter rescue, we took in cross bred pups and even occassionally other breeds and species. During the time that I was there I don't think we held onto any animal past 3 months, eventually everyone was adopted!
I wish more rescues and shelters adopted Nathan Winograd policies and actually saved more animals.

My paypal link isn't working anymore, because of the donations that people put on paypal, I am not a 501c3, I just do it by the adoption fee and my own dimes....email me if you want, hopefully the adoption fee will help with the raw diet, and the vet costs to fix them before they leave, I already gave them a DHPP, since I am sure the mom was never vaccinated. The Blues are all males in Reese's litter. Only 2 females, the dark sable and a black with a raccoon face, check them out on my website, they are also on petfinder. 59840 area code or MT63 for the shelter number.
I would gladly hold the Blue boy for ya??!!!! <G>
PM or email me if anyone wants more info.... Reese's pups are almost all spoken for, none yet for Maggie's litter, they do seem to have more white chests on them, but they are only 1 1/2 weeks old too, my local HS will take some when they are ready, we work with each other and help each other out. Normally I only do the GSD's and Belgian Malinios, but I do make exceptions and found homes for other breeds as well...
Thanks all,
Steph

Some 'rescues' out there are jokes... glad to see there is still a couple decent ones out there!
I love the little blue guys too... would love to see them all grown up. Beetree, you should get one! :) I also like the tan one in Maggies litter with the black stripe... wonder what that one will look like?
Good luck finding homes for moms and pups!!

they are so young too !) in particular. Where would we be if it wasn't for wonderful people like you ?
Don't suppose the 'guilty' parties in all these cases even begin to understand the damage they do, or how
much respect they owe you.
Euroshepherd - interesting comparison to lack of communication between Shelters, HS, Breed rescues etc;
same here in UK, all too often. Grrr.
