Does anyone know where I can do the eye cerf tests here in TN? Do they do them on the UT campus in Knoxville? Or does anyone know? I had intended to  take one of my dogs soon to get them done, but I haven't been able to find where I can get them done.

You're over-thinking it, hun. You can call CERF and they should be able to provide you with a list of facilities in TN that test. That's how I found several clinics in MI that do CERF testing.

  • TN, Chattanooga : Dr. Louis Laratta, 615-776-2019, $35 per dog one Wednesday every month for CERF testing at the Emergency Clinic on Ammincola Hwy.
  •
  • TN, Knoxville : University of Tennessee, Dr. Dan Ward, 423-974-8387, price cost is $25 for the first dog and $20 for all after that.
  •
  • You can also contact various breed clubs and all-breed kennel clubs, and see if any of them are planning on holding an eye "clinic"; breed clubs will often schedule one or two eye clinics per year to help reduce the costs of having the exams and certification (though I don't think you can get much cheaper than the above quoted fees...in the Northeast, clinic rates were usually in the $50-$75 ballpark, versus private certification appointments that ran a LOT higher).  The Sibe club I belonged to in NJ used to co-host a clinic for multiple certifications with several other breed clubs that shared similar issues in their breeds.

Thanks.  I did contact the one in Nashville that SKI mentioned.  They quoted me I think $40. It's much, much closer (the Nashville one is like 40 minutes from here roughly so because of gas prices it would be cheaper for me to go there) to me than Chattanooga or Knoxville, though I will be going to Knoxville in January, Auggie will need to have his prelims done on hips/elbows then and the University was the only place I know of to go do that, that will do it right anyway.
