Her front assembly is horrible. She is very under weight. And from the looks of the other GSD in the photo, bad front assembly may be a trait in your area.

Maybe her front is that way because she is immature and her chest has not widened up yet. I have seen horrible fronts that look similar to this one, that corrected itself with maturity.  Many time once the chest, "drops" it will also widen and the elbows will be force out, therefore making the paws actually straighten up and not be east/westy.  Not saying this is the case with this particular dog, but I have seen it happen with many of them.

This female does look really young and not very mature.  I wouldn't give up on her yet. Although I am a working dog person, I am just trying to shed alittle light and hope.  JMO

Wow, kinda harsh, Brandi...

OK, Ammad, I'm not an expert, but I'll give it a shot...

While she doesn't have the *best* front I've ever seen, she also doesn't have the worst, either--and it's been my experience (and observation) that it's harder to get a good front end on a dog than it is to improve the rear assembly.  She IS 'east-west' in the front, and quite narrow of chest, but she's also just 17 months of age and hasn't really filled out yet.  With conditioning work, as suggested by others in the OP's feeding question thread, she'll tone up the musculature of her entire physique, and I'd expect to see significant improvement in her overall condition after a year of good, solid conditioning work.  Yes, she's always going to be 'east/west', and she's always going to be narrow in front, but she DOES have a *lovely* face, with beautiful expression and secondary sex characteristics--no one should need to check the back end to know that this is a young female GSD.

As I understand it, the breed is still in the earlier stages of development in Pakistan and other Middle Eastern countries, and the GSD enthusiasts in those countries are working dligently toward improving their lines--but we all know that quality European imports cost a pretty penny, and I'd wager that there are a large number of imported GSDs here in the US who are built exactly like this girlie.  The top showline males are sold out of Germany when their popularlity as a stud dog declines, or the dog is older and it's time for the home kennel to focus on the next generations of dogs, and we've all seen the level of pricing for them; and the top females certainly don't make it out of Germany

She is quite lean, and needs muscling, but with the high temperatures in Pakistan presently, to start doing roadwork with her right now would be both dangerous to her life as well as cruel--and Ammad knows this isn't the right time for that. She has excellent pigmentation, and the photo of her sitting that's on her pedigree page shows a very nice coat--but it makes sense that she's out of coat at the moment with the heat situation there.

I can't comment much on her pedigree, Ammad, as I don't know anything about her parents or grandparents, but it appears she's got some of the best showline dogs behind her, without there being a whole lot of tight linebreeding that would limit your options in selecting a stud dog should you plan on breeding her.

It will be nice to see her as she fills out and muscles up once the weather there breaks, and you're able to roadwork her and swim her (both will do wonders for her physique), and hopefully you'll be able to get her appetite to improve once you can get more animal protein into her.  It doesn't have to be red meat, btw--fish and poultry are good sources of protein as well, if those are available to you at this time. Good luck with her--she has a *very* pretty head, with a sweet and happy expression!

[Edited to add the following:]

I'll cede to Hutchins regarding her front--it may improve with physical maturity and conditioning, or it may stay just as it is at present.  I tend to be a 'worst case scenario' type of person, so I generally hedge on the side of things not improving; that way, if whatever it is doesn't change, I'm not surprised or disappointed, and if it DOES improve even the smallest amount, it's like a wonderful present!

Didn't mean for it to sound harsh. He asked for comments: I gave it. In the one photo, her hip bones are sticking out. After further looking at the OP'ers posts, I see that he is having difficulty putting weight on said dog. As for the comment on "trait in your area", I meant he may be limited in lineage and poor fronts may be seen frequently.
No harm meant. Sorry.

Brandi I was thinking the same thing...the other pics did improve though. Even though she is 17 mo, I would wonder just how much her front end will change much. Put some weight on her and do some swimming to muscle up the front. If that doesn't work, then you pretty much have what you have.
